Some of my favourite paintings from this past year.

A small snapping turtle surrounded by strawberries and stars on a purple background. 6. A turtle woman swimming in stars with her arms reaching for a turtle, she is surrounded by turtles. 7. Four fish swim towards the top of the water, which is covered in ice, at night time, the sky is full of stars.

Thanks! We have a Grogu plush and I’m pretty sure the Anishinaabek adopted him as a relative so I think he counts.

other than that, no, but I was thinking of making tiny deer hide moccasin & birch bark canoe ornaments, my grandma used to make them

put up a tree because my son asked me to
a selfie I took in front of my Christmas tree, I have a red sequin dress with red bow earrings on and red lipstick. my Christmas tree in the corner of my living room, in front of some photos and a Norval Morrisseau painting. The tree has multicoloured lights, gnomes, red and silver ornaments, red and silver garland, and a red and white ribbon. there’s also gnome string lights. my son thinks the gnomes look like little santas.

I also do a little bit of beadwork, quillwork, leather crafts, hide tanning.
I’m a mom.
I’m learning Anishinaabemowin, I also teach it sometimes.
I love Anishinaabe stories.

Moon Lodge, 2022
Anishinaabe style acrylic painting of a person with long, brown hair, outlines with copper. The person is dressed in blue and purple, lying down inside a pink oval shape representing a lodge. The lodge has symbols inside drawn in a lighter pink, representing a moon cycle inside, which is connected to the person’s head and feet by the same light pink lines that make up the moons. Outside the oval, there is water, earth and a sky. In the water there is a turtle and a beaver, animals who travel between land and water. On the land, there are two faces belonging to people who appear to be speaking. This represents my ancestors. There are two pine trees growing out of the land. In the sky, there is a moon with the face of a grandmother, a reference to “grandmother moon,” and there are many stars. The sky is teal fading into a dark blue.
