My local outdoor pool is open for the summer season, and I couldn’t be happier. Two minutes from my house. Nice to see @marcuskelson.bsky.social there today too!

Also our outdoor pool season opened last weekend - but only across the border.

So across the border we go.

The carpet-bugs-in-the-pantry saga continues.

We are now spraying every shelf with a vinegar solution. And got the herbs and spices situation under control. (Labels have to go on top because the pantry is old and unlit and I don’t feel like wearing a head torch every time I cook.)

So my #dailywalk fell into a bit of a hole when I returned from Melbourne late last week with the most incredible ankle pain. Physio diagnosed me with some weird tibialis tendinitis that runners get. lol. RUNNERS. Anyway back to the pool I go.

Day 3 of the #dailywalk self-challenge. Forgot to track activity but I did do over 9000 steps for the day which is pretty bloody huge for myasthenic wobbly legs. Lots of walking through State Library and to theatre that night. Also swam 1000m in the hotel pool which helped with my ankles immensely.

Day 2 of #dailywalk and well I’m visiting Melbourne so I’ve walked EVERYWHERE and my feet hurt but hey who cares because ART.

Felt like a walk so I did a walk. Wonky legs struggled and heaps of paranoia over shit footpaths I can trip over but I managed a bit over a kilometre with Nordic poles.

I guess I make this a daily thing this month to regain confidence and also leg strength?

Heavily into sewing gifts at the moment. A glasses case with vintage Japanese fabric, some drink coasters and now another friend and I are making a quilt from our respective sewing rooms, for a mutual friend. (Lots of texting of photos happening to make sure we are on the right page).

After my sudden hatred of swimming last week, I reluctantly went to the pool today … and loved every second. 1.2 km done and dusted.

Just back from a fantastic solo road trip to Brisbane. Art gallery exhibition opening, a brooch community event, and lots of friendship and laughs with new friends and old.

I’d never been to Manly before even though I was born in Brisbane. It was pretty special.

Sunday swim with friends, brunch with husband, all the laundry, a bit of grocery shopping and two vaccinations.

Now going through one of my favourite books getting ideas for this week’s meals.

(Won’t lie, cauliflower macaroni cheese is top of the list so far).

Did she swim 20 laps (1 km) in a stunning comeback from shoulder injury?

Yes she did.

(And all this on half the usual dose of pyridostigmine usually required to function in the mornings)

That felt amazing - 14 laps at my favourite indoor pool, longest non-stop freestyle/backstroke swim since my fractured shoulder in October 24.

What do you do when your local outdoor pool closes for the season?

Head over the border and use their still-open pool. (Thanks for the intel @marcuskelson.bsky.social )

How was it? Absolutely glorious.

This is my kind of church.

(Last outdoor swim at my local pool for the season. Heading over the border tomorrow till they close theirs down too).

Weather is hot, very dry and dusty/windy. I predict a massive thunderstorm in the next few hours. Hopefully we won’t be driving in it.

For those playing along at home, deadline embroidery is finished. So pleased with it! Pattern by Curiously Stitched

End of day 7 - should have the little section filled in tomorrow.
March 14, 2025 at 11:44 AM
Day 5 - the satin black thread arrived. Not a fan but it does make the magpie glossy. Added some blanco and the head is complete!
March 12, 2025 at 11:19 AM
Day 4 of the Magpie embroidery and I’m desperately waiting for Satin 310 to arrive so I can finish off the head section.

I had a lovely swim with friends, then breakfast and coffee together catching up - and home in time to have coffee with husband when he got home from work.

Feels like life has balance again.

Also this friendly guy was waiting for me when I got home. What a character.

Day 3 - not too much done, but I did have a hospital appointment to disconnect me from my IV. (Arms are now free!)
March 10, 2025 at 10:19 AM
I have a deadline embroidery to do - a very overdue 70th birthday present for a friend. We are visiting her on Tuesday next week so no time like the present I guess?

This is the end of day 2 (I didn’t work too long on it).
March 9, 2025 at 10:30 AM
I’m currently hooked up to an IV bum bag and tentatively ventured (masked as always) to the local shops this morning. Amazed that a few people walked straight at me, quickly, in the grocery store and it was me who had to get out of the way for safety

I’m large and tall and not typically invisible.
