I’m a science communicator and magician with a degree in philosophy, so whether you want to learn about dinosaurs, see magic tricks, or hear occasional musings on, well, all kinds of things, you’re in the right place!
“Scientific knowledge, humanized and well-taught, is the key to achieving lasting balance in our lives.” ~ E. O. Wilson, in his book, “The Creation”

What we need is scientific knowledge, humanized and well-taught.

The language snob in me will never get over the ignorant ahistoricity of “gender is biological.” Gender is GRAMMAR. gender is a type of noun category. It shares an etymology with ‘genre,’ and they’re still the same word in some European languages. This isn't even about transness, you're just wrong.

“Littlewood’s law states that a person can expect to experience events with odds of one in a million (referred to as a ‘miracle’) at the rate of about one per month.”

In other words, given how many people there are and how many experiences we all have, insane coincidences will happen all the time.

Reminder that the Bar-Tailed Godwit is a bird that flies across the Pacific Ocean from New Zealand all the way to Alaska WITHOUT STOPPING.

And here I am too lazy to get up of the couch to go get my water bottle.

sooooo just found out about Miragaia – a stegosaur with just barely long enough of a neck to creep me out a little. Like, it’s nothing totally crazy, just… dinosaur uncanny valley. Anyone else? Or just me?

Here’s Darwin’s lovely conclusion to “The Origin of Species,” because we should all spend a bit more time reflecting on the grandeur of our interconnectedness with all of nature

Perhaps my favorite of NatGeo’s “best wildlife photos from 2025,” because bats are are just so weird and this one’s face is so cute and dorky

Just found out that I’ve met someone who knew someone who knew someone who met Charles Darwin.

So basically I’m pretty much best friends with one of the most important scientists of all time.
