The Human Cost of AI
A couple of years ago, a good friend* achieved their lifelong dream: After a decade of grueling agency work, they had finally secured an in-house localization job on a game they loved. This was a high...

It's also very funny to see the little details that the new writers have forgotten. See: The fact that Christopher was living in Boston, Maury being blind.

So far my prediction about liking season 7 more than 6 is bearing out! There are absolutely some problems with writing and characterization - for example, it strikes me as really weird that Logan took to post-college working life so well given EVERYTHING already established - but it's fun.

You know what's bizarre? I know that I've only watched Season 7 once, but I remember some of these plotlines *really well*. Like, well enough that I was convinced they had happened in earlier seasons and that I had seen them on repeats. No clue why.

Almost everything in season 6 was a drawn-out, dramatic arc, and few of those arcs had the tight, emotionally satisfying resolutions of previous seasons. I'm not sure if this was because of Amy and Daniel's burnout, executive pressure for certain kinds of plots, or something else, but yeah.

I have a prediction: I think I'm going to come out of this rewatch ranking season 7 higher than season 6. I could be wrong, but season 6 was...honestly kind of stressful to watch, and not just because it has my least favorite story arc of the whole series.

Anyway, season 7 is as I remember it so far - still entertaining, and the new writers/directors are trying, but the show is very obviously in different hands. There have been a couple of weird character moments but nothing too egregious.

I realize that it's more dramatic if the characters go through with the pregnancy, but like. Come ON.

I think the only time the subject is even brought up is when Christopher's parents low-key suggest it in the flashback episode, but like...Sherry was an extremely career-minded woman who very obviously wasn't interested in motherhood. Lane is freshly married, terrified, and not ready to raise a kid.

I'm a little curious about why this show is so resistant to the idea of abortion existing as an option. Like, once would just be a fluke, but this show features at least 3 unwanted pregnancies and none of the mothers even CONSIDER abortion.

It occurs to me suddenly that Luke being so resistant to Lorelai being involved with April is kind of giving her a taste of her own medicine re: how she reacted to Max wanting to be involved with parenting Rory. Which doesn't *excuse* it, but.

One of my favorite genres of scene is when characters are talking about video games and the writers have clearly never played a video game in their life.

As frustratingly dumb as Luke is going to be about the whole situation, though, I'm glad to see April. She's a delight.

I had completely forgotten about this whole single-episode therapy subplot, which I'm finding very interesting in light of my little mental health rant above. The fact that her going to the school psychologist is treated as something of a joke, or a fluke, supports my argument, I think.
