Yes, the public sector needs strengthening, but we have to remember that people are at the centre of it, and data and AI need to work for them, not the other way around.

There is no mention of participation of practitioners, the ones who deliver day-to-day tools and the ones who will be forced to use the new tools whether or not they make their job better.

My mum is a phycologist, and when she heard about ChatGPT she got very excited about it as a terputic tool. I was so horrified I wasn't even able to articulate why it's a terrible idea. But without proper context it can seem like a free, always available, and endlessly patient support tool...

Interesting. I think that the concept of intellectual freedom with job security is a big part of the pitch for a lot of people.

I can understand the temptation for people who apply widely, job search can be so time consuming and demotivating. Maybe they think those airy statments LLMs are so good at is what's expected -- they do match online examples, unsurprisingly ;)

Do you mean the letter of motivation? I can't imagine people sending AI generated CVs -- but maybe my imagination is limited!
