When did Hipkins define women as biologically female? I feel like that would have been pretty big news if he'd gone down the NZ First transphobic track

He’s been critical of the Green Party’s financial plans and their calls to defund the police, and has blasted Te Pāti Māori over their handling of Takuta Ferris’ comments (although he failed to call it racist). He hasn’t backed automatic citizenship for overseas-born Māori, he has defined a woman as a ‘biological female’, hasn’t engaged in low-hanging tit-for-tat political digs and says Labour won’t repeal the gang patch ban. These positions should help to appease a lot of centre voters.

I'm soooo excited. The papers are finally here.

After some very serious deliberation about how to cast my STV preferences I will be voting KEEP the Māori ward (City Council) and KEEP the Māori constituency (Regional Council).

And then I will be skipping to the orange wheelie bin to drop them in

Cutting it a bit fine but got my submission in on the academic freedom of speech parts of the Education and Training Amendment Bill.

Still time till midnight tonight to let them know that universities shouldn't be forced to platform hate speech.

This ranged from the unlawful killing and disappearance of South American filmmakers due to the ideas they expressed in their creative work under the twentieth century dictatorships to the jail time that Iranian filmmakers have been subjected to for their speech in the twenty first century. We teach and research this subject matter as part of our commitment to valuing human rights and demonstrating the danger of authoritarianism. Prescribing what students have to be exposed to is just one side of the authoritarian coin and should not be embraced. Rather universities should be allowed the freedom to maintain their commitment to academic freedom as delivered by their diverse community and not by outsiders."
