Tysm king this is the wheel I didn’t wanna reinvent

The song was tracked digitally, and I’m sure I can can just ask my friend for a bounce of the isolated tracks I need, but I’m gonna give it a go it from the bootleg first before I get them involved

Is this… Congress asserting its constitutional authority?

I think it’s pretty brilliant filmmaking because they went thru such pains to craft a living breathing world none of us remember but we all read about, where we expect massive racism and nearly as much sexism and, thru trope subversion force the audience to reconsider the rote narrative of history

Well, you remember the scene.

Second is when the men have a “pretty good idea what’s going on” and are about to act macho and another Black woman, who one might expect to be overruled ex officio, is able to (relatively) calmly, from authority, change their minds.

How never often does that happen?

Two scenes that come to mind, as spoiler free as I can be since it’s a newer film:

The first Black woman the villains “get” encounters them naively—weakly, even—to ask them for (there’s symbolism in the request) and instead of getting her right then, they respect her power enough to wait until…

I haven’t seen the latter, but one thing that struck me about the former was that it seemed in places to deliberately create scenarios where it’s Black women might be expected to experience misogynoir only to subvert that expectation authoritatively—that *can’t* happen in *this* world

When you don’t want to do something, you can try to consciously envision what it would feel like to do the thing you don’t want to do. Like I should be doing about getting sleep rn. After you do, ask yourself if you feel like you could do it now

I’m gonna smoke a cig and visualize; best of luck Sol
