What do you do when you have WIP related medical questions that are too specific to google? Do you try to find an expert and ask them for an interview, or just hope the Redditor claiming to be a microsurgeon isn't actually a 14 year-old trolling you?

A homemade bingo card where the squares are actually red hearts, where every other one is upside down to make them fit together. The hearts are outlined in black and glued to a red faux newspaper background, which is glued to a black background. It has a glittery red header that reads "Cherry popsicle summer" in black cut out letters. The hearts read: watch some creepy cartoons, go to an event at night, wear black, spend some time in the woods, ward against evil, late night diner, read an old mystery novel, fight evil, have a femme fatale moment, road trip to a middle of nowhere town, do some witchcraft, drink some red wine, the free square is a glittery red cherry, go to a protest, research your local paranormal phenomenon, watch some Unsolved Mysteries, tell a deserving party to fuck right off, watch a vintage horror movie, hike somewhere new, eat a cherry popsicle (duh), look way to cool while smoking, drive the backroads at night, look for cryptids/try Randonautica, drink at a dive bar, and see what's up at a haunted house. Attached to the card is a short pencil that has been carved to look like a stake with red wax and symbols on it.

This week, I procrastinated my writing projects by making these aesthetic bingo cards for my friends for summer. They choose between: CherryPopsicle, OrangeBicycle, SolarPunk, SexySwampAss, SeaHag, and VulpineAuraSummer.

A homemade bingo card that has "Sea Hag Summer" written at the top in teal. The bingo squares are actually black triangles with white writing. They are glued to a greyish blue background. This has a marbleized teal border, and a black border around that. There is a short teal pencil attached at the top, which is encrusted with gold and turquoise. The squares are all follows: Take a cold shower, read/watch a WLW story, exfoliate shave and moisturize in one sitting, learn to decenter men, go swimming, tell a man to fuck right off, learn some phrases of an island language, wear jewelry at a now jewelry time, learn grown up story of Medusa, be on a boat, wear something unsexy, read some Sappho, a middle triangle with an abstract pattern of lines and punched holes, get rained on, hydrate, google the horrors of the VOC, sharpen your knives, enjoy a cathartic female rage spiral, learn about artist Artemisia, collect some water treasures, read a book that takes place by the ocean, touch foam from turbulent waters, feed an aquatic animal, deep sea documentary, and take action for women's rights.

No one had any idea that I took the photos, that I was the grad student who found the link between the creepy symbols and Florence County’s dark mining history. And one freezing night when only a crazy person would be out, I built the altar. I even edited together the Witch’s trademark animal moan. It was all I ever dreamed of and more, inspiring the next great urban legend, and I was proud to walk those woods, to see other people’s gift at the not-to-well hidden site. But what was that sound rising behind me, that sound like a cat, a human scream, and a blender, familiar except that now, I feel it rattle in my bones?

By the time we got to checkout, lines wrapped around the aisles. It took hours longer than we expected. The percussive din of rain on a metal roof meant that news spread through shouts instead of quiet conversations, and that’s how we learned that the main way home was flooded. We didn’t know the backroads very well. At first we bickered about lefts and rights, anxious to get dry and sleep in our own bed. Then the creeks spread out long fingers and pulled themselves up over the banks. A calmness came over us. Our only aspiration became any uncovered road. When water touched the tires, we abandoned the groceries and waded toward the hills.
