A couple years later, I ended up interning with former Senator Claire McCaskill’s office. The difference between these two couldn’t be more stark. Yet, look who ended up rising to the top. Missourians (and Americans) deserve better.

This doesn’t mean much, but when I was a student journalist attending a conference for young professionals in DC, I had a short meet-and-greet with him scheduled months in advance. He flaked last minute, of course.
