well, what did you expect from an opera? visual artist, writer, and software developer; NYC; he/him
Replace "show" with "films" and that's also exactly what happened to Star Wars.

Yeah Jack Chick likely would've thought that AI chatbots are Satanic, but he also thought that things like rock music and public education were Satanic - he was probably more likely to consider something Satanic than not.

I hope someday people can look back and laugh at how late-stage capitalism screamed victory while it digested itself into useless goo. But it's not funny living it.

I'd like to just take a moment to complain: I was using Chrome in Windows 11, and there was suddenly a big ol' MS Copilot button on every window; it triggers not on click, but on *hover* - just *touching* it with the mouse cursor opens an AI chat session. At least it was easy to disable, though.

Very anecdotal, but: I had a heartening conversation with my 13 year-old niece that was mainly her talking about how much AI sucks and how ugly AI images are, and her friends seem to feel the same (though she also said that many kids in her class do indeed use it to cheat).

The folks in the apartment next to mine used to have some pretty loud party-type stuff. Generally not a big deal, but one night at 3am they had some sort of drunken, group shout-along to the first Weezer album *in its entirety*. They even got a few songs into 'Pinkerton' but then they got tired.

The concept that AI models degrade when they train on their own outputs has even been scientifically verified - it's called Model Autophagy Disorder (MAD) (which is how I learned that "autophagy" comes from the ancient Greek for "self-devouring").

So weird how as soon as the pandemic started it became very immediately clear that things like socialized medicine and giving people money so children don’t starve actually work really well but now that it’s been a couple years we have to all pretend we didn’t notice that

My wife says "you know, Taylor Swift, she has that song 'Champagne Problems,'" I said "'champagne problems?' what's that? I've never heard of that," my wife says "yeah, I guess all you know are Jack Daniels problems."
