Yet, once swallowed Shibuya’s autumn, she studied the microexpressions on her charge’s face. The scent of dew on clean stone, the jovial students clad in colorful wool, adults in starched suits and dress skirts. Dancers, politcians, swindlers. Soothing hydrangeas, fried fowl and roasted purple spuds from wooden vendors. No longer was his soul home to any wonder or longing. There was no subtle lift of his top lip, nor did venom claw free from the slate pits of his gaze. Gradually, such displays became meaningless to him. And that numb indifference frightened her more than the barrel of any gun. No matter who wielded it.

Nails deep in the rough bark, Morgana scaled tree beside Leblanc until he reached the window sheilding the bare shoulders that peaked above thick blue comforters. Akechi was sprawled over Ren like the blanket on his back and even asleep, Ren looked more than fine with that. Well, he supposed that made sense. Except for the part where they were both shirtless. The attic wasn’t that warm. He didn’t get it. He didn’t get a lot of things about this.

“Greetings,” Akechi said after a quick recovery. Bright TV smile on his face and everything. “You must be Futaba-chan. I’ve heard a lot about you.” ‘Greetings’ huh? Finally, Futaba met someone more socially awkward than she was. Ever just look at someone and think. Against all odds. 'Yeah, I could take them out'. Akechi inspired that feeling in her. He might be taller and stronger with superior stats but Futaba just felt like she could destroy him. Kinda like Yusuke. There were just some people who exuded boomer energy and he was one of them. There was no way she’d feel intimidated by someone wearing argyle. This was gonna be a piece of cake.

Okay, that was….a lot. And Futaba was really starting to reevaluate Akechi’s boomer status. On his own, when he wasn’t mad, or in the presence of the people he hated. He was manageable, downright lame, and awkward with the way he laughed through most of his own bad jokes. Even online, at his grumpiest, he didn’t scare her. Strolling in and blackmailing everyone would be a bit of a power move if it weren’t for the fact that it was her friends being blackmailed.
