Seriously this man is going through it for the entire series and it is a delight to watch.

There’s a sequence right at the end of episode 6 that might have changed my brain chemistry a little. Just COOL.

Both of the leads are great, actually, and they have a lot of chemistry. Koshiba Fuka as Misa is allowed to make faces that aren’t elegant or pretty but convey a lot of raw emotion. Which is nice. You don’t always get that.

So many loving, lingering shots of food. So much wagashi!

I watched Marry My Husband: Japan recently and y’all, it’s been a while since a show has given me the brain rot this bad.

It’s *so good.* The South Korean live action was fun, too, but it’s more about the spectacle and revenge fantasy. The Japanese version is much more grounded and emotional.

Had to say goodbye to my best friend today.

Please give your pets some extra love from me.

Can’t believe it took me this long to catch the shout out to Blair E. Batson Children’s of Mississippi in UXM #1.

That’s practically right in my back yard!

We may never know what Rogue was up to in the Pentagon, but she sure was dressed up cute to do it. 👍

Slightly obsessed with Remy in this panel.

Dave Marquez killin' it every issue.

There is exactly one person on this team capable of following orders, and it's Kurt.

The kids sure are learning from the example being set for them, too. 😂

And Kurt was the second.

Today feels like a good day to remember that Wolverine was the first of the X-Men to accept Rogue, after Xavier had to shame the team into backing down because they threatened to quit en masse rather than take her on.

It's not JUST that her touch can harm others, potentially ruin their lives or even kill them. That's bad enough, but it also comes with a forced intimacy that Rogue cannot fully be rid of after.

THIS BIT, THOUGH

Aside from a couple of weirdly childish bits - and, admittedly, her mutation definitely did a number on Rogue's emotional development - I do love how Nocenti writes her here.

She's always been full of brass.

Freddy is a bit of a toerag. Rogue, baby, I know you're like 14 to 16ish here but please raise your standards.

I do appreciate that she manages to go from nearly a backbend to a full shoulder throw, however.

I swear to god I remembered this being the story of Rogue's mutation emerging - probably because of the title - but no, the boy making the crazy face here is named Freddy and Rogue is already aware of her mutation.

I am freshly confused by the hot mess that is Rogue's backstory.

First up: Classic X-Men #44. More specifically the B-story, as it's the reason I bought the issue (with apologies to Claremont and Byrne's "Elegy").

"Her First and Last," written by Ann Nocenti, art by Kieron Dwyer, Hilary Barta, and Glynis Oliver, published in Dec 1989.

I love the implication that Hotoru has not stopped talking about his cow touching experience ALL DAY.

Clearly it made an impression on him. 😂 (UXM #3)

For reasons I was recently inspired to drag out my old comics collection.

There's a lot more of it than I remember, but the theme is pretty obvious.

(Not shown, a bunch of Crossgen's Ruse.)
