The Labrys is an important symbol today to the Minoan Brotherhood and Sisterhood. In ancient Crete, the double axe was a religious symbol that was usually accompanied by Goddesses. It seems that is was a a symbol of the brink of creation. #minoanbrotherhood #gaywitch #gaycoven

Later the shop was rebranded as The Magickal Childe, which stayed open until the 90's. #minoanbrotherhood #pagan #gaycoven

Long before the Classical Period of the well-known Greeks, there was the Bronze Age that included the Minoan Civilization. Although the civilization did not survive, much was left for us to gain a glimpse into their lives. The frescoes found in Minoan palaces were incredibly detailed. #knossos

The brilliantly colored animals and people were depicted in realistic poses but rendered flat rather than three-dimensional making them unique and intriguing. Minoan artists didn’t paint on dry plaster. They utilized the wet type of fresco painting in which pigments were applied directly to wet plaster, binding the pigments like saffron, iron ore and indigo to the wall. The matriarchal culture often depicted females bare breasted and in authoritative roles in society.
