Our economy has turned upside down with cost of living being expensive while luxuries have gotten cheap.

I am not sure how we fix this but we have to acknowledge something needs to be done. Claiming people don’t want jobs is unhelpful.

You work at Microsoft. It’s unlikely you actually know the people who have been laid off over the past 20 years and do want a job. Instead they’re stuck doing uber or Amazon deliveries.

The unfortunate thing is I don’t think what trump is doing is gonna fix that, likely get them laid off instead.

If we eliminate tax cuts, increase tax rates on the wealthy, we'll reduce our deficit spending, and remove the money from the economy responsible for inflation.

That's about the only way this is fixed. We can't cut our way out of this crisis.

Every year the county levies a tax on my house based on its assessed value.

Technically this shouldn’t happen, but they’ll never spend time to fix it unless people call in. 😎

Ooh. We're adding a porch on the back of the house, and getting Anderson windows.

The Renewal stuff is almost like a different company. I don't fully understand it.

It's easier legally to prevent ownership/operation to foreign actors. I agree that other social media is doing just as much harm, but we run into constitutional issues I think.

It would dramatically increase the average IQ in Iowa...

And I say that a Iowa refugee.

My 2018 Subaru Outback is on the same battery, but if you subscribed to the Starlink(not Elon) app integration it'd drain the battery quickly. Modern cars have too many electronics that don't shutoff when the car is off. It's like having a dome light on all the time.(IYKYK)

I know it takes a lot of work to maintain an OSS library, but now people will fork the library from before the license change, and move on.

I've used his library, and it's handy but it isn't critical.

I need to make plans for spring break. Is this an option?

The chasm? What you got is a prodotype! Time to ship!
January 10, 2025 at 4:22 AM
You only need to touch it once to learn not to do that again.

Did you get your 15,000 bitcoin from Elmo yet?

This is an intriguing idea, gonna check it out

Internet sites come and go. When it's no longer interesting or enjoyable you move on.

Zuck is all about navigating politics, he's pandering to Trump because there's pressure to regulate his company and he wants to avoid that.

I also think he wants to make it worse to prove a point.

Yeah, there's hardly any tech content over on Threads. Some memes and that's about it.
January 7, 2025 at 11:47 PM
Maybe I'll start using this more. Threads had recently become much more of a click bait site.

Want to see more tech content, less politics though.

Here let me help you feel at home:

Is anyone still using this?

I've been working with Linux since 1992. This debate about whether it's a good desktop OS has been raging since the late 1990s.

Linux for non-IT folks is great if all you need to do can be done with a Chromebook. Otherwise use Windows or Mac.
