INBOX: Windom South Recreation Center is currently closed (April 4) due to "water issues."
Email from Minneapolis Park & Rec Board reads, "Windom South Recreation Center closed due to water issues. Windom South Recreation Center is closed and all programs are cancelled today, Friday, April 4, 2025, due to no water to the building. The MPRB will send out notification once the water is working and the building can reopen. In the meantime, Kenny Recreation Center, Pearl Recreation Center and Fuller Recreation Center are the closest recreation centers and are open 3-8 pm today and noon-5 pm Saturday."

Iron Door Pub in LynLake is closing March 23.

Despite our best efforts, we weren’t able to overcome the collective challenges that small businesses face at the moment. Still no power in parts of Southwest Minneapolis, particularly Linden Hills. Outage information is attached to the construction crew icon, from Xcel outage map as of 3 p.m.

MPS has no school/e-learning day due to the snow.
There will be a severe weather day for MPS students today. Students in elementary school will have no school and students in middle school and high school will have an e-learning day. MPS sponsored programs and activities including all community education programs and Minneapolis kids will be canceled high school sports games and adult enrichment classes will continue as scheduled. Student athletes will receive communication from their coaches.

We updated the story with more details, including a link to the draft development plan the City posted last night. The number of planned parking spots is closer to 800.

Update from the City re: 50th and Penn water main break as of Feb. 13 at 4:30 p.m. The intersection will remain closed until tomorrow.
Press release reads: Crews continue response to water main break Residents are advised to avoid the area of 50th St. and Penn Ave. S. as repairs take place. Feb. 13, 2025, Minneapolis. Public Works crews continue to respond to the early-morning water main break at the Southeast corner of 50th St. and Penn Ave. The leak has been identified and isolated, and water is expected to be restored later this evening to the remaining three properties whose water is currently shut off. Crews plan to finish surface road work tomorrow in order to fully reopen the road. Street Maintenance crews will work to clear built up ice and treat the streets, alleys, and sidewalks. A cause for the leak has not yet been identified. Building officials with the City’s Community Planning and Economic Development Department have inspected the mixed-use building at 2221 W. 50th St where flooding was first reported. They have determined that damage to the building’s foundation has made the building unsafe for entry until an engineering assessment can be made. The building remains stable but some of the windows and the entrances will be boarded or secured from entry until further assessment can take place. Throughout the day, City staff have been in communication with those impacted in the area. Housing Liaisons with the City’s Regulatory Services Department are working to connect with displaced residents to provide support. The businesses located in the building will also be displaced until further engineering assessments can be made.

Today is Feb. 10 and vehicles can be parked on the even side of residential streets and both sides of Snow Emergency Routes on the last day of the City's Snow Emergency.
