スコットランドのアバディーン生まれのイアン・マロニー氏は、2005年より日本に在住しています。9冊の著書があり、その中には旅行記『The Only Gaijin in the Village』と『The Japan Lights』の2冊が含まれ、The Japan Timesなどの媒体に定期的に寄稿しています。岐阜県在住で、iainmaloney.substack.comや主要なソーシャルメディアプラットフォームで活動しています。

エベレット・ケネディ・ブラウン氏は、1988年より日本に在住するアメリカ生まれのアーティスト、作家、そして文化探求者です。エベレット氏は、文化理論、アイデンティティ、そして現代日本の変化をテーマとした日本語での人気書籍を数冊執筆しています。また、千葉県にある自身のファーム・リトリートセンター「ブラウンズフィールド」での複数の古民家修復や、九州英彦山の古い山伏の庵の修復にも積極的に取り組んでいます。

『The Genius of Japanese Carpentry』に加え、『Small Spaces』(1993年)、『The Japanese Dream House』(2001年)、『The Very Small Home』(2005年)、『Just Enough: Lessons in Living Green from Traditional Japan』(2010年)を執筆しています。2017年に金沢工業大学を退職するまで同大学でフューチャーデザイン研究所を設立し、現在は東京の武蔵野美術大学彫刻学科で教鞭を執っています。
