You have every right to be proud of them! I was proud of them as I read this thread, and I only "know" your parents from what you have posted about them in the past.

In a way, the people involved have become symbols for something beyond themselves. This isn't about a particular person who was killed by another particular person. This is about the evil done by greed and the response of the victims.

Not in the same proportion. Policing, by its nature, is going to attract a higher number of people who like to exercise power and authority than teaching and health care professions. There may be some "good (caring) cops", but they are in the extreme minority.
