I spend half the year running a seasonal business and the other half evaluating and investing in mining, renewable energy and tech startups. Happy to answer questions about tax advantaged investing approaches in Canada, economics or plants.
They may exist. In the past Massarelli in New Jersey had one that looked almost exactly like this picture and they may still make it.

Your citrus fertilizer is likely acidifying the soil as well. Not likely a huge deal as 6-7 is an ideal ph range. If the plant is growing in soil which was meant for it then your soil ph might now be too low. The more likely issue is that you are using too much nitrogen. The ratio should be 1-2-2.

My wife and I missed seeing Tom Petty on his actual last tour and the regret we both still feel is still quite strong 8 years later.

When the song Johnny Can’t Read came out in 1982 it resonated. As a Canadian living close to Detroit and travelling to other parts of the US I was amazed at how little many of my contemporary Americans knew. They all “knew” that the US was the greatest country in the world though.

I saw them at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1982. It was their “Farewell Tour”. Seen them twice since…

How often do you fertilize and what’s the NPK of the fertilizer?

Lying on a gurney waiting for surgery on my knee. Hopefully I won’t have to wake my wife up in the middle of the night to help me out of bed to pee after this…

For me buying games is like buying good scotch or wine. I stress buy due to overwhelming workload (self-inflicted). I picture the time when I will relax and enjoy the activity. I think it’s good for my sanity. 120 bottles of wine, 20 bottles of Scotch/Irish and 20 never played games - worth it

Japan rebuilt their economy on inexpensive consumer products. As kids we just expected a lot of our toys to be made there. Their cars had an uphill battle when first introduced but a lot of first time customers became lifetime customers.

The media was the last line of defence. I can’t even fathom what the US looks like in a couple years

Tardiva is a cultivar of Hydrangea paniculata. Hate to be a nitpicker when it’s such a great photo. Btw there are a number of cultivars of chokeberry - Viking is the most well known - that have been bred to produce sweeter berries with a good texture.

Common names can be confusing and can vary wildly by region. They are chokeberry (Aronia sp.) in the North American nursery trade. Chokecherry general refers to Prunus virginiana

Should have mentioned that this is in Canada

From an investment standpoint copper is considered a “critical mineral” with commensurate tax advantages for investors.

The containers aren’t exactly in tiptop shape (rusty roofs mean possible leaks) but this a really good use for them. Be interesting to know what this structure cost.

It came upon a midnight clear. Seems appropriate for the current times.

You are likely right about a bailout, but I don’t think it will happen right away and I don’t think it will be as effective as most people expect. Meanwhile margin calls will crush many small investors and 401k withdrawals (between retirement and job losses) will not magically reenter the market.

Nothing wrong with that!

It was disappointing that I had to listen to the entire q&a session before someone asked a really good question.

I’d be good with that if you could fix the traffic on Terry Fox.

Reminds me of Sicily.

I see the risk - it’s the same for students who copy someone else’s homework - very little real learning takes place. On the other hand, when I’m doing a deep dive on a subject (generally plant genetic history), LLMs can save me a great deal of time by showing me where to look.

No access to shade would be incredibly cruel, especially considering the hotter summers we now experience.

Our Ontario business sells a lot of small size silver maple and poplar to farmers. A significant percentage are used for livestock shade (the rest for windbreaks). The poplars last 30 years and they have to keep planting more to make the shade continuous.
