I think part of why I didn't enjoy Emerald quite so much on my first playthrough is that so many of the new Pokemon were practically absent - every Aqua/Magma grunt had a bunch of Poochyena and Zubat. Now that I'm playing this Gen 3 randomized run, I'm encountering so many Pokemon that I never saw!

Disaster strikes, Professor Oak's aide says I've only caught three Pokemon, because he doesn't know about the 2nd and 3rd gen ones I've caught! I'm going to use PKHex to correct that mistake because otherwise the randomizer breaks the game.

Ok it was a bug from Mew being transformed, I just caught a Mew by getting it before it could use Transform.

I caught Mew .... and it was a Ditto! I don't know if that's a bug or a feature where Ditto can appear already transformed? I'm not mad, this is really funny!

Mew and Mewtwo casually available on Rt 42 😂 Mewtwo is too gamebreaking to be fun but I am going to try and pick up Mew to see if he's fun to play.

My team is coming along. I did run into Suicune and Raikou, but I didn't catch them because it's more fun to use regular Pokemon. I didn't have any hesitation going for Machamp though, he's not a legendary!

Even in a randomized run, I won the bug catching contest, because Heracross appeared in the national park

Whitney's gym has Ghosts - one fun thing about this is that you have to scout each gym by fighting some of the basic trainers before you know what their theme is. Falkner's trainers had Magnemites, so I wasn't sure if it was Steel or Electric until I saw a Forretress.

Falkner's gym was easy, they all had Psychic pokemon and Aerodactyl took them out with physical attacks easily. Bugsy had Steel types, which was fun, he had two Magnemites and a Steelix, but Lapras took care of them with water moves.

I caught these Pokemon in the morning on the first few routes ... it's day now and the Pokemon available are much worse, so I'm glad I was up early!
