I wandered out this afternoon to greet the trees,
before winter steals their final leaves and they drift into their quiet dreams,
awaiting spring’s gentle hand to wake them once again 🍁🍂🪾

We’ve had sunshine and showers here today. It’s 14c in the cat run but it feels quite warm. Jessica’s been outside briefly but it’s really too wet for her princess paws 😹. Mischief is watching from inside. There are some lovely autumnal colours in the garden though just now 🍂

Nice walk this afternoon before the weather turns tonight.

Oh I see. I’ve been out this afternoon because the weather is supposed to be awful here tomorrow. It was raining acorns at one stage - there were so many on the path 🍂

Found a ‘good thing’ in the garden! Not liked by everyone, but I love to find toadstools and mushrooms. This one was in the garden tonight when I filled up the bird bath 😻

Had a couple of hours in the garden today with the meows. It’s been quite warm in the sun despite the wind. Still got some spring flowers in bloom which is nice.

Advent calendars for cats 😹🫣

Sitting in the garden with the meows while it’s still warm. It’s 23c in the sun today and pleasant in the shade. It won’t be long before the trees are starting to turn and the garden goes to sleep for the winter 🍂
Some of the flowers are still looking good for now though 🌸

We’ve had rain most of the week here and it’s the first time I’ve been able to sit out with the meows. I say meows, but it’s only Mischief today. Jessica is asleep on the bed in the sun and nothing will entice her down 😹. She very much likes her routine.

I saw this little fellow when I was in the garden today 🥰
The ladybird in the image is a small, dome-shaped beetle with a bright red shell and distinct black spots. It has a shiny, smooth appearance and a black head with small white markings near the eyes. It’s resting on a green leaf.

Tonight I’ve had chicken salad with coleslaw and the last lonely tomato from my plant this year 😹.
It wasn’t anywhere near as good a variety as last years. I had a non stop supply of mini vine tomatoes then.
This year, I’ve had less than 10.

It’s 31c here today in the sun, 25c in the run. There’s a flock of about 15 Starling sitting up in the Holly tree. They seem to loaf about up there most of the day lately. My Geraniums are looking cheerful now my Sunflowers have passed on.

These Viola have been flowering since February. Their petals look like cheerful little faces to me 🥰

I’m in the garden with the meows. It’s 29c again but cloudy and humid.
I’m so tired this week.
The Crocosmia is flowering well and I’ve got some more Geraniums and Snapdragons coming out which is nice.
The garden is looking extra wild today 🌸🌻

I went out this morning for a walk while it was still quiet - the blackberries are out here too and the elderberries 🥰

I’m in the garden with the meows. It’s breezy at 27c in the sun still. There’s a rather tatty looking Red Admiral on the Buddleja bush 🥰.

I’m out there now with the meows. Well, I’m in the cat run so I’m half outside I guess. Jessica is enjoying the cat nip in flower at the moment. Mischief’s watching frogs in the pond😸 🐸
I’ve just seen a Swift fly over - that might be the last one I see as they’ll be going away soon😿
The flower in the photo is catnip (Nepeta cataria). Small, tubular, pale whitish flowers clustered together with Fuzzy, heart-shaped leaves with serrated edges. Though not visible, catnip emits a minty smell and is well-known for its effect on cats.

Just had half hour in the garden with the meows. It’s 28c when the sun’s but we were in the shade - we had a nice breeze and it was pleasant.
Lots of little birds flitting about in the trees and I’ve seen one Swift silently fly over.
My first Snapdragon has flowered over the weekend🥰🐝
The main flower in focus is a white snapdragon (Antirrhinum majus). These flowers have a characteristic tubular shape with a “mouth” that can be gently squeezed to open like a dragon’s jaw, which gives the plant its common name.

Carnations were my Mom’s favourite flower and I try to grow some each year. These have been producing flowers since April with still some buds to open 🥰.

Persicaria is in flower in the garden. The bees and butterflies love it. Hopefully it will flower into September now 🐝 🦋

It’s gone warm again. Up to 28c now in the garden from 12c odd this morning and full sun.
Just having a break with the meows.
Hoping my Geraniums will flower soon.

Flowers are small and in clusters, have four or five petals each and the leaf is light green in colour, lace like, rough textured and somewhat serrated. There are some geranium plants waiting to flower. They have green rounded leaves, slightly crinkled or scalloped. Some leaves have a darker banding towards the centre of the leaf.
