Dutch, likes the Oxford comma, ikigai is helping people, and writes HTML in Notepad.
Went through my saved links and finally got to read this article about SHEIN's suppliers.

depelote is my favourite game of 2025, and it is finally coming to Nintendo Switch. Really loved this trailer.

I should make a list of best trailer of the year across films and videogames starting with the Force Awakens teaser in 2014.

Yesterday evening we were picking a film to watch. I let her choose between the box with three heads and the box with eleven heads.

Watched this short snippet from the documentary film "The Dating Game" by US filmmaker Violet Du Feng. This dating coach gives really bad advice and I'm glad that one of his clients remains stubborn in staying true to himself.

Looks like another problem at Cloudflare going on at the moment, the third one in a year now. Even their own website returns a 500 Internal Error.

Well, at least #Letterboxd is working so I can still log what I am watching 😁

Spy films are such bullshit. Don't need to go through such length to hack into a system.

Most teams don't know how to securely manage their passwords and write them all in a shared unsecured Word document on a SharePoint. One can just tap into their Co-Pilot agent and ask for the password.

Saw a guy walking towards his bus stop as he suddenly left a very loud fart. He immediately turned around to see whether there was anyone walking behind him 😂

Found myself explaining to a Gen Z'er that 15-20 years ago social media used to be more social, where you connect and interact with people you know.

Now it's just bots talking with each other. And wading through seas of content from random people/bots chosen by algorithms until you've had enough.

Recommended reading about how LLM's make our brains lazier and weaken critical thinking and "can encourage passive consumption of information, which may lead to superficial engagement, weakened critical thinking skills, less deep understanding of the materials, and less long-term memory formation."

When UK game studio Bits Studios was working on T2 on Game Boy, film studio Carolco would repeatedly say that Sarah's bangs needed to be bigger. Bits Studios did not know that "bangs" means fringe in US English and thought they were referring to her boobs. So they kept enlarging them.

A couple of weeks ago, OpenAI released their browser ChatGPT Atlas. I believe we are not ready for that yet, especially with how the majority of internet users still carelessly handle their passwords.

This article about Perplexity AI's browser Comet should be a reminder of the dangers.
The Perils of AI Browsers
Perplexity's Comet browser could until recently be hijacked by malicious links, causing it to siphon personal information and send it to mock attackers.

Proton Mail now allows you to remove the metadata from images you add to an email, either inline or as an attachment.

This is a great feature and removes the effort I need to do to remove the metadata manually before sharing. Now if only Bluesky would add such a feature too...

Yesterday I saw a guy in the train playing one of those fake ad games. I always wondered if anybody plays them, but then if nobody did then they wouldn't keep making those fake ads.

An interesting interview in which the approach of occidental countries similar to the US are compared to that of China.

I've often looked at the Chinese/Viet governments way of handling their markets and wish we would do that too without their cons like lack of privacy and freedom.

I was playing Capcom vs SNK and my first fights were against Mai, Chun Li, Benimaru, King, Yuri, Vice, and Cammy. My girlfriend saw that.

"Why are you beating up women and gender fluid people?"
"They're randomly picked."
"Then why do you look so happy now?"
"She's English. Her country deserves it."

Yesterday I participated in the preliminary round of the Dutch national Ticket to Ride tournament.

We played three games of T2R Europe. My girlfriend won overall, but at least I got both the high score (143) and the lowest score (31).

One of my favourite products from France is the rice from the Camargue region, which France took from Indochine and then cultivated in this southern region.

I used to buy them from the brand Taureau Ailé, but lately cannot find it in the French supermarkets anymore. And now I know why: cheapflation

This week I watched "Left-Handed Girl", the solo-directional debut of Shih-Ching Tsou, who is Sean Baker's usual collaborator in writing and producing. I like how in my Letterboxd stats of 2025 I now have her and Sean Baker side-by-side under my most-watched directors.

Was visiting Beaune in France the other day and tried to introduce "Beaune jour!" to the locals, but it didn't really catch on.

Pity though. I was planning to sing "Beaune in the USA" next.

The difference in upbringing becomes apparent when me and my girlfriend see a wasp floating on seawater and struggling to lift off.

Her: "Let's drown him to end his suffering!"
Me: "He can use my swimming goggles as a platform so he can lift off once his wings are more dry."

We had been spending a week at the Southern French town Agay. The name reminded me of a recurring sketch from Little Britain, in which Matt Lucas played the "only gay in town".

I spent the week looking for the one gay of Agay, but was unsuccessful.
