I had the chance to visit the National Public Housing Museum in Chicago recently. 100/10 recommend… incredible fusion of history, sociology, policy, and art. Community is at the heart of everything and it’s clear.

The year was 2012. I was living my best life in Philly. D’Angelo was on tour w Mary J Blige, his first in a decade. My friend Carmen & I had a TIME seeing em at Mann Center. A week later, saw him again at Made in America.

I feel so lucky to have seen his gift live. What a loss.

Children should never have to shield each other from bullets, share scraps of food despite rumbling bellies, or sacrifice their bodies or hearts or dreams because adults are more committed to terror and violence and power than they ever have been to the health, safety, and care of children.

Happy 4 year anniversary to the time I woke up with a bat in my room on my last night living in Ithaca and had to get rabies shots in 3 different states bc I was driving from NY to Los Angeles. The most fitting ✨fuck you✨ from a place I’d said the same to one too many times, I guess.

best part of #ASA2025 is being back with your people + the energy that brings. so happy to reunite with these two, meet new folks, and share some new work.

Heading to #ASA2025! Let me know if you are too ✨

And if you care about children and youth perspectives come to our session on Sunday at 2pm! I’ll be sharing work on Black children’s experiences of corporal punishment at school in the rural US South.

was it one of the worst proposals I’ve sent into a conference? yes. was it submitted at 1 am? also yes. would I choose days of boogie boarding, bookstore & ice cream runs, arcade nights, & the unadulterated joy of 6 kids making the jumbotron 5x at a minor league game, every time? 10000x yes.

PSA: Shaun King is Shaun Kinging again. Hide your wallets, hide your organizing. Warn your friends who haven’t seen him grift the last 9 times he’s done it.

And one last graphic on the many, many local organizations you can get involved with to keep fighting with and for trans youth and adults and us all

My heart hurts and rages for every trans child out there who on top of cruelty, hatred, and misunderstanding must also deal with being blocked from necessary health care.

Sharing these resources for those who can support (financial and non-financial) and those who could benefit from supports.

We’ve all seen the news and know how terrifying it is for undocumented folks in LA right now. Friends have described the disappearance of fruteros, taco stands, etc, the heart of LA. Now’s the time to help keep folks as safe as possible from the state. Donation link in thread

Honestly, fuck @us.theguardian.com for this misleading headline. You know exactly what you’re doing and how this will be read. Your job is words.

(The violence? Men intentionally driving cars into protestors and threats against legislators who were planning to attend)

When people say the police are the violence, believe them. A woman is speaking, unarmed, from a safe distance, not advancing, and police shoot her in the stomach with a rubber bullet.

This is indefensible. Clearly excessive use of force. Police are empowered to do this shit with no consequence.
