Chapter III/Encore Years. A project manager by trade. Write a book? Build an app? Travel? Freelance? What’s the next life experiment? 👀
Taking a break from all things bookish to visit a yoga studio. Hoping to build some movement into my bookish days.

Reading a book that matches my wave length well is one of the best luxurious and magical feelings in this world. I’m currently in love. Dreading getting to the last page when a new search has to start again.

Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
For class, I read it again, one of my favorite books. I always thought it would be amazing to write like her. Luckily, I'm reading A Swim by Saunders. He'd modeled his early writing after Hemingway. It didn't work. Let me remember to find my voice.

"A story is not like real life; it’s like a table with just a few things on it. The “meaning” of the table is made by the choice of things and their relation to one another." - George Saunders, A Swim in a Pond in the Rain

9 PM: iced cream?
Why not! 😆
9:15 PM: coffee?
Yep! 😋

"A story is a linear-temporal phenomenon...what makes a piece of writing a story is that something happens within it that changes the character forever." -George Saunders, A Swim in a Pond in the Rain

Good morning.
First cup of coffee. Checked.
English term paper. Checked.
And it's not even noon.

Dangerous Liaisons by Laclos.
The manipulation and calculation of human emotions and behaviors is impressive. To see oneself as above all others is narcissistic. I don’t care for the epistolary novel form but I was intrigued. I’m glad Laclos settled on all is evil ends unwell.

❤️How nice it is to be in an English class without the college awkwardness and being incentivized by learning and nothing else! Bravo to the professor’s dramatic readings. ❤️

Well, I still want an A. 😉

And it would be nice to make a new writing friend or two.

Perhaps there'll be more detours from writing, but I reflect on the current state of my life: I’m a full-time student AGAIN. Let that sink in. How blessed is that? I didn’t appreciate how priceless that was when I was young. Now I do.

I’ll hold on to this thought for as long as it lasts.

Back to being an English student and reading early novels. So far, Princess de Cleve, Crusoe, and Clarissa. Imagine being the first writer to come up with the "novel" form. They made it up as they went. Such a range of work. One can write anything in any way if it's believable and entertaining.

I'm standing at a crossroads with many possibilities. This time it feels harder than usual to decide which way to go. Perhaps, because I have wiped my life blank, starting from scratch is freeing and precious, I don't want to take a false step.

Not satisfied with a thirty-second clip of Noah and Alley confronting each other in the pouring rain, I watched the last part again. Can you say, true love?! I’m such a sucker for beautiful romances.

I thought I couldn't read books or watch videos longer than ten minutes at a time because of my online surfing habits. But Pride and Prejudice and Little Women proved that it wasn't all about me. With these classics, I couldn't turn away and was deeply moved. Again.

Yesterday, I even looked at job postings. I woke up this morning and thought, "This is crazy," having freed myself from the corporate hampster wheel three months ago to write full-time. So, after a warm croissant and hot latte, I started to write. Anything! #writersky #writinglife #lifeistooshort

I bought the same book again but not on purpose. First time, an ebook in English a few years ago. Now a hardcover in Mandarin. Can I excuse myself? I like it so much or I don’t remember it so much? #booksky #books #readerslife
