By that logic any bidirectional effect amounts to a tautological definition

Your dog walking example didn't address the original point about outsourcing care either then

He and others were working on building a narrative that is now coming to fruition.

He wasn't making predictions so much as laying out a game plan

Yeah I personally know people who were basically bullied out the field cause they dared question the orthodoxy

And you do realize that you are making a socialist argument there right? Collectivising reproductive labor to benefit from specialisation and scale effects is socialist policy. It also argues that such specialised labour should be fairly valued and not put on the backs of marginalized groups

It's especially painful because you could use economics to expose the hidden costs of these systems of exploitation. Even an economist should be able to see how this kind of outsourcing puts a strain on all kinds of systems that are bound to break at some point.

If your time is so valuable that you can outsource domestic labour *and* pay a fair wage for that you are a unicorn.

Especially if you are not just able to pay a fair wage, but actively do it too

Does it? Arguably a healthy socialist critique of capitalism is needed to remedy or mitigate the flaws.

The solution can still be up for debate but a leftists position doesn't need to be needlessly softened here imo

Also this economic explanation tries to individualize a structural problem. Of course individual people make choices based on expected value or whatever.

Imo a valid economic critique here is that these individuals are making choices based on incomplete info

Are you saying exploiting a power imbalance is only morally questionable if your motives are purely based on wanting to exert power?

It is a structural problem. Of course individual actors might not be (fully) aware of what they are doing and only following expected value
December 1, 2025 at 3:29 PM
I'm sure there are people making a good living off of that kind of work but empiric observation will show that most aren't.
December 1, 2025 at 3:27 PM
If you factor in these power imbalances your cost analysis breaks down though.

You are only distracting from the real question: why is it cheaper to outsource this domestic labour? Are the people you outsource it to being fairly paid?
