As a professional communicator, I can tell you they know exactly what they’re doing. They are not speaking as an average American — they are intentionally manipulating average Americans.

Anytime someone tells you that you should “intuitively understand” something that is actually complex and esoteric, you should be extremely skeptical. That statement tells people to skip their critical thinking and go straight to gut reactions and bad math.

Are you asking if my disc golf group chat has 18 people in it? No, but maybe around 12? My point is that it even with something as low risk as disc golf, we pay attention to who we are chatting with.

Right? In a group chat about who’s going to play disc golf, my friends are like, “who’s phone number is that??”

I appreciate a suggestion that saw recently that we stop asking people/politicians whether they “believe in” climate change and instead start asking them whether they understand it.
