Mental health support isn’t equal.
People from racialised communities face worse outcomes and unfair treatment.
The UK government needs to go further to stamp out racism in the Mental Health Act for good
These stats below are from England only. 1/6

We’re seeing a lot of racist rhetoric in the UK right now, including against refugees and asylum seekers. That feels frightening and exhausting - especially for those of us from racialised communities.
Seeing this so close to home can be scary. And it can take a toll on our mental health.

It’s tough seeing someone you care about going through a hard time - you can feel pretty helpless, right? 😔
But the good news is, there are ways you can try to support them. 1/2

Say it louder for those at the back 📢
These proposed benefit cuts are dangerous and are only going to make things worse.
We need to be supporting people with mental health problems, not plunging them into poverty. 1/2

What the UK government is proposing is short-sighted and harmful to many disabled people.
Plans to remove or reduce PIP for people with mental health problems will push many into poverty. It will worsen people's mental health and make it harder to enter or stay in work. 1/3

Behind every benefit cut is a real person, a real life.
Someone forced out of work. Someone struggling to make ends meet. We can't reduce people to numbers on a spreadsheet. 1/6

“I am large, I contain multitudes” (from ‘Song of Myself’ by Walt Whitman).
People rarely experience emotions one at a time – and sometimes what we feel can seem contradictory. It’s a normal part of being human – embrace your complexity 💙
