Not on here until I am. Disappearing images. Old photo representations of me.
In the first week of May I made up for April and read a Maltese novel (in English).

Sunset Exiles by M.J. Camilleri.

First pages in I didn't think I'd grow fond of an older single male character going on dates... But M.J. worked some magic with his words.

I was crying by the end.

In March with a spillover into April I read "Sajf" (summer) by Ryan Falzon.

Flow: 4/5
Queer: 0.5/5
Political: 2/5
Story Cohesion: 4/5
Horniness: 5/5

It dragged a bit, like a long summer in Malta with no trips abroad and no plans. Easy to read and follow. A bit of a chore to complete.

I'm going to Innsbruck for the #rollerderby world cup as a skating official. You can help me get there by buying this poster for 15€ + postage via PayPal or Revolut or bank transfer.

While flights there are reasonable, flights back home to Malta are very expensive because of high tourist season

I'm going to attempt to read 1 Maltese book a month! Starting February!

This month I read "Din il-ġawhra ta' pajjiżna" (this gem of our country) by Tyrone Grima.

Flow: 4/5 Queer factor: 4/5 Political: 4.5/5 Story Cohesion: 3.5/5
New vocab: ġawhra (gem), għagħa (outcry / rabble), ħaf (to wander).

"you are rich because of my rent sir". Duo Arabic coming in with the good phrases already.

Photos from today's protest in Ħamrun & Valletta. Undocumented migrants and stateless children marched together to call for stability and long term residence. They're being left in limbo & threatened with deportation. Despite living in Malta for years & decades, paying taxes, learning Maltese.

Still up to this #gubbins game. Distractions from the news.

You know who makes damn good couscous? The Mediterranean.

One last Gubbins postcard for now... Took me a while to figure out how to place the right emojis to make the Palestinian flag. Once I wrote the word "PALESTINE" in the game I set myself up to write free and have more coherency with this card.

As one of these three Gubbins postcards show, I'm starting to get better at this game. Finally scoring over 5000.

I've also got a favoured colour scheme: purples, and a favourite illustration: the walking pencil.

These are some of my favourite. They feel a bit more scrapbook and poetic.

The passing kings - quick punk art.
Musica - rubbish robots.
Zapped scooters.
Posturing question.

Other Gubbins postcards made with words I played in that round are more political. "slam slam sexism" and "vote vote vote vote".

I'm starting to be more comfortable with the design elements and I haven't had this much fun "designing" digital art in a long while.

So naturally I keep on Gubbinsing and since I'm going through an alleged second puberty, I start to act like a teenager.

Cue, zany pussy, nude dicks, punk phallus, and racey sexting.

But soon, after some social media sleuthing I come to know that many many words are allowed that wouldn't be in say scrabble. My first postcard once I figure this out is pretty gay, "beaded peaches in accords" with an implied fire fart coming out of the cherry bums.

Less than a week ago @jinxremoving.bsky.social & @alsiew.com introduce me to Gubbins. A fun word game that has great audio & illustrations & allows you to make postcards with the words you have just played! This starts badly, my words suck & I ignore the postcard feature...

Merhaba from Ankara, Turkey. I am here to observe the Congress of Yesil Sol Parti (Green Left). They are now called the People's Party for Equality and Democracy - HEDEP.

This morning I will be an international observer of the Kobani case in court.

One of my Malta Green Party colleagues Ralph said this at a press conference on Saturday.

"what's with ministers having customer care departments? We're citizens not customers. We want rights not favours"

And it's kind of stuck with me so I sketched it out.

We'll be making stickers of this. 💚

Oh to be this cat.

#EuroPride2023 with 30000+ people. It's surreal to think we used to be just 200 people ten years ago and we'd just walk 500m down Republic Street.

I'm smiling here which means the pain from standing for so long and being in a loud crowded place hadn't hit me yet.

Grateful for friends patient with "flakiness" and understanding when mental "health" gets in the way of planned plans, ending in half plans.

I'm going to miss The Nib.

Baseball drag 13 years ago.
Coincidentally non-binary flag colours.

As a way to say - hello, I'm here, I'm queer, I love sports, and I'm a drag.
