We’re expecting our new Welsh Politics Pod to drop into the feeds this week. If you fancy giving us an early bird follow, head over to @welshpolitics.bsky.social 👀 #Wales #Cymru #Senedd26

Call the police, there’s been a murder… #Lab25

I know that there are a lot of Welsh politics folks out there missing the @hiraethpod.bsky.social while it is on hiatus.

While I would ofc point anyone needing a fix either to ‘For Wales, See Wales’ by the ever excellent Will Hayward and BBC Wales’s #WalesCast I’m happy to say that I have *news*

This section of @willhaycardiff.bsky.social ‘s latest newsletter is extraordinary painful reading. FM Wales, like her predecessors, spent 2010-2024 using the UK Govt as a shield from criticism.

Making that the central case against a potential Plaid Cymru-led govt simply isn’t credible. #Senedd26

Further discussion of @walesgovernance.bsky.social / @itvcymruwales.bsky.social BARN Cymru poll via @pickardje.bsky.social on the FT’s Political Fix.

The (entirely accurately reported) century winning streak of Labour in Wales is seemingly under threat at #Senedd26 #Wales #Cymru

Pretty brutal from @shippersunbound.bsky.social to downgrade the First Minister of Wales @elunedmorgan.bsky.social below two city Mayors in England. Ouch!

Controversial editorial decision from the BBC in an article about new @walesgreenparty.bsky.social leader Zack Polanski. #Aberystwyth

Very grateful to @richardwynjones.bsky.social for his enthusiasm for Thomas Ellis MP, which has sent me down a Cymru Fydd rabbit hole! What an eye opening read this is for modern eyes as #Wales ‘s political character is on the cusp of change for the first time in a century and new futures await…

Full credit to @newstatesman.com for addressing the crisis of sewage pollution in rivers and on the coast with an accurate territorial approach, reflecting the quasi-federal UK state.

#England and its politics deserve as much scrutiny as Scotland and Wales.

Listening to a very clear Welsh Labour comment Jenny Rathbone MS (Cardiff East) on #WalesCast that goes beyond ‘Red Welsh Way’ sloganeering to an evidence-based call for good government.

Westminsterism is the problem with Welsh policing and justice, not the solution. #Senedd26 #Wales #Devolution

“Contemporary Wales was more afraid of freedom than of death itself”
July 17, 2025 at 7:06 PM
Even better to see Lord Paul Murphy (formerly MP for Torfaen) has changed his mind from opposition to support for Wales to have its own policing and justice system.

Hope more current MPs, Lords, Ladies, and MSs join him in this journey and we can have a proper debate post- #Senedd26 #Wales #Cymru

Excellent to see ongoing commitment to the devolution of justice and policing to Wales as well as the creation of a discreet Welsh legal jurisdiction from the parliamentary member for #Pontypridd @mickantoniw.bsky.social - here in front of the Lords’ Constitution Committee: #Wales #Cymru #Senedd26

Dear @newstatesman.com, please say ‘England’ - and ‘English’ - when that’s the accurate descriptor for the thing you’re actually talking about. @thatsdevolved.bsky.social

Postal votes out today in #Pontypridd - a telltale sign here that only one of the candidates actually lives in the ward! Lol. Local democracy at its finest…

Tough but fair from Will. Hard not have sympathy for Eluned, the first woman leader of Labour and given the role after male egos left the parliamentary group in tatters.

She’s alone on the dance floor dancing to the PLP’s tune and the hard light of day is about to hit. The party is over. #Senedd26

Cracking #WalesCast interview with @emyrlewis.bsky.social outlining how the UK Parliament (& UK Govt behind the scenes) has AGAIN created convoluted legislation to specifically avoid giving the Welsh Parliament the right to legislate on important domestic matters - here assisted dying:

After a hugely disappointing Spending Review for #Wales / #Cymru , which has put Welsh Labour in a tough spot ahead of #Senedd26 , facing national elections with confirmation that they are back of the UK Govt queue, @willhaycardiff.bsky.social explains all in his newsletter.
