I usually know by chapter 3. I chose that number because it’s what editors request for partials so I figured if it works for them it can work for me lol. At that point I’ll peek at a chapter further in & the next to last chapter. If it’s still meh I stop. My ADHD needs to be drawn in.

If you decide to write one definitely take into consideration whether you want a paid host or a free one, and if you want to monetize.
Also consider the style you would want for a layout, and how/where you’ll want to pull readers from.

With a blog people can choose when to read by going to a site as opposed to finding an email that’s lost in a sea of emails. There’s also the option to monetize with a blog using my affiliate links once I switch them over (if I decide to in a few months).

I’m also likely going to do it as an alternative to an author newsletter. I personally never read newsletters except from authors that I’m friends with, and most go to spam.

The one that I’m creating under my pen name will be trickier to grow since I’m completely keeping my worlds separate for the sake of my real life brand, but once I have a few books out & do more marketing I hope to see it grow. Even if it doesn’t it’s still a fun outlet.

If you follow/are into a specific niche they’re worth a read. Same with writing one. I built my audience w/the one under my real name from clients. I worked in beauty & fashion for 25 years across multiple states with clients that included everyday people, socialites, & celebs. Automatic audience.

They’re still pretty popular. Or at least I have luck with them. Under my real name I have a lifestyle blog and I get a lot of traffic.
