When dad called the other day, he was upset that I don't reach out more often and asked why. I told him it was because he voted for Trump. He tried to say that wasn't fair, but I reminded him that if an 8 year old child who doesn't even understand is guilty, then a fully grown adult has no excuse.

I complained about being punished for something I didn't do, and my dad explained that I was guilty by association. Apparently, I was supposed to stop someone else's child when I was only a child myself, I guess? I don't know.

I have a pair who know my work schedule who come to hang nearby. They discovered that when I'm in the road, it's usually safe to snack on any roadkill nearby. I occasionally leave them healthy snacks.

Try looking at the meme with a more decolonized mindset. Look at indigenous history and see the differences in how colonizers used violence vs. how those they colonized did. Each side used violence, but only colonizers did so without conscience.

True. However, you failed to consider how each side used those weapons. Fascists use them liberally against anyone they feel are less deserving, with little to no warning. We had to fight to even access them, try to get only the powerful, and they had plenty of warning.

I feel as if you saw the meme and are assuming that killing our oppressors is the goal. But we don't insist on the death of our oppressors, we insist on the death of their hate, otherwise, we are not above removing them from the gene pool and allowing them to nourish the earth. Huge difference.

It isn't fascist to fight back. You sound like a "violence isn't the answer" kind of person, and that in and of itself is a form of fascist violence because it's only said to marginalized folks trying to defend themselves. Marginalized folks using violence to fight for their rights is not the same.

You are conflating one single battle with the entire war. Do you think marriage was a non-violent win for us? It took decades of fighting just to get to the vote for marriage. Our trans siblings are still fighting for their lives, and it's going to take more violence to help them.

Did you forget Pride started as a riot? That we have been fighting and are still fighting, to be seen as equal?

Huzzah!

So far, the question "Can I give them a quality life?" has kept me from trying to bring wild animals home, but the spouse's greatest fear still involves waking up while camping to hear me outside excitedly whispering "Kitty!"

I don't think they should, but I often wish they could be.
