RIP #RobertRedford. This was his best. Inspiration to all of us journalists whose mission is holding truth to power. Still such an important message on the corrosion of democracy. Solidarity to my colleague John Lyons, preparing a story on the current climate for our program #4Corners. #journalism

COVER REVEAL!
My new novel Shellybanks will be published by Allen & Unwin in March. “Haunting, fearless and unforgettable… Shellybanks is a gripping novel about trauma, survival, and the courage of women facing the shadows of Ireland’s past from the bestselling author of Pheasants Nest.” #books

Following our God Complex story on #4Corners on Monday on issues including gender politics of neurosurgery, #surgeon and fmr AMA Vic President Dr Jill Tomlinson lamented that of Epworth’s 25 neurosurgeons, none are women. This was #Epworth neurosurgeon Paul D’Urso’s (now-deleted – 🤷🏻‍♀️) reply:

“I’ve been waiting for this. And I’m so glad I’m part of this. Because now he can see me.” These are the words of former Greg Malham patient Nyrob, who along with Rick & Annie, just wants to be heard. See their stories of their encounters w the corflute #surgeon on God Complex, #4Corners, tonight.

I’ve been working on Monday's election #4Corners. It's a bit spicy. A bit sweary. IMHO, a cracking good watch. Spent some time on the buses. It was... real. Or, to be precise, it wasn't real at all. But insight into a high stakes election in a high stakes world. #auspol

Sláinte! Celebrating by watching my brother play Pogues songs. Here with his beloved and her cousin who hail from a tiny town in County Limerick called Effin. We all wish you an Effin marvellous St Patrick’s Day. And for this moment, all is right. 💚

Adelaide’s beautiful town hall packed last night for Writers’ Week’s hilarious Great Debate with Annabel Crabb, David Marr, @amyremeikis.bsky.social, Nick Ryan, John Crace & me. Topic: True friends stab you in the front. Alas Crabb & co on the negative did a good job of doing to David John & I!

So many victims have predeceased Ridsdale. Thoughts, always, with their families, and those who still manage the trauma of what he did to them and the church’s catastrophic failure in creating more victims by allowing him to be moved to yet more parishes.

Just want to say I am so blown away by the humble, caring, philosophical attitude of men, once little boys, who have so many reasons to be hurt and angry but think of others before themselves. It’s a lesson for people far more powerful & wealthy than them. This stuff keeps me going in this job.

I wrote a book about this myself:

This was so great. Get into it. Yayoi #Kusama at the NGV. Blending perfect design principles with beauty in sadness. A [secular] prayer for love. I accidentally dressed to match the Flower Obsession installation. Great way to spend last day of holidays before getting back on the 4 Corners express.

So looking forward to this Wheeler Centre event on March 11. I will be interviewing Lucia Osborne-Crowley on the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell. There are obvious parallels in our journalism, so fascinated to hear Lucia’s story. Details here:

Airlie Walsh wasn’t one of them. Although I knew who she was & (broadly) what happened as the industry is small. But this is timely given my earlier post. Good luck to her. Good on her for standing up for herself. One of many TV women @joshbornstein.bsky.social is acting for, going through this.

RIP David Lynch, the patron saint of nerds and weirdos and lovers of strange beauty everywhere. The only thing, via Twin Peaks, this one paused study for during my final year of school.

A little teary my first novel, Pheasants Nest has been shortlisted for the Indie Book Awards. Huge thanks to all the bookshops & readers who have embraced my characters Kate Delaney, Liam Carroll & the other imaginary friends I created in my head during a dark period. Congrats to all the authors.
