Books, cats, knitting.
I think 'evolution' could be nicely represented by a pattern that transforms over the course of a garment, such as a wandering cable.

The contrasts in the red cardigan means that is the one that catches my eye the most but I would be more likely to wear (and knit) the purple cardigan.

By your own admission, it was only 'some of' the chicken. Daphne's expression is, therefore, entirely understandable.

I agree. Thank you @naomialderman.bsky.social. I will be recommending this article to my colleagues in teaching and to my students (secondary school age).

They are shrewd animals. They known their concerned little faces win them sympathy and love. They then pretend to disdain that sympathy and love, and that wins them our respect.

Accidently shrinking a newly completed garment in the wash.

This thread was really useful. Thank you.

I'm so, so sorry. He was a beautiful cat who clearly had a beautiful, gentle soul.

Cables for me too - there is something very cosy about a cable knit.

It's probably Guiness but, like the Murphy's, Syd's not bitter.

But will the political weather have a bigger effect than the actual weather? I think we should be told.

Either: 'Can you please just follow the pattern?' or: 'Stripes, again? Really?'

Noticing a mistake 20 rows back in a lace or cable section of a jumper I had decided to knit without lifelines.

Don't know but Stolen Stitches @stolenstitches.bsky.social is a must follow for knitters. Carol Feller is amazing.

Imagine if you miscount OR if someone in front of you in the queue already has a hat.

I once cast off in a different colour of yarn after losing a game of yarn chicken at the last minute. I now consider it a nice feature of the top.

Schools are for fish. A self respecting cat might monitor one but they wouldn't join it.

Yes that sounds right.

In answer to your question, no. They should keep their fanbase happy by endlessly playing everything ever written by Taylor Swift. (Disclaimer: I am not a Swiftie.)

Reminds me of probably apocryphal story: the men's game decided that one day players would come in to bat to a song of their choice. Tufnell apparently wanted 'Ciggarettes and Alcohol' (Oasis) but it was Jack Russell requesting 'How much is that doggie in the window?' that made them ditch the idea.

They would be cute on a project bag, as well as being a little nod to what is inside the bag.
June 12, 2025 at 6:47 PM
I leave them until the end and then usually end up making them somewhat shorter than the pattern suggests but a short sleeve is practical, right?

Very true.

I suspect Andrew is correct but this made me think that in teaching the wisdom (if not always the practice) is to put your best teacher with your weakest group because this is where their expertise can make the biggest difference to performance. Surely the same logic should apply to coaching?
