Just some dude (he/him) in Nashville. MidTN DSA 🌹
If most of what we’re seeing is TV shows, why is that a category? And is TV so bad that Greg Gutfeld really what we’re gonna go with?

Every so often, I open up Twitter to check something and I have a lineup of notifications that are basically “someone you follow tweeted.”

Among those this last time, someone am not following:

Wondering if we may need a moonshot just to make up for the damage.

Folks in Nashville warned Council about the raft of changes with those ordinances. Too broad of a brush and these are the potential consequences.

Sounds like a decent metaphor for a certain police surveillance technology….

Lots of details the author included about this lawyer. One of them was not that he’s worked for the FOP. Seems like an important omission, no?

I feel like you need more gravitas if you want to glower in defeat on your cartoon villain throne.

A “provocative gesture,” you say? A “controversial salute,” even? Heavens to Murgatroyd, I think there might be another commonly used name for that.

Important to remember that the “roided out” America of Reagan is a large part of the reason we’re where we are today.

We’re frequently very fond of the strongmen of the world. Just not the ones who get in our way.

Worried about how much progress we took for granted when the political and economic mechanisms we live under are largely designed to slow that type of change.

This looks less like a video game console and more like an extremely American baby toy from the 80s.

Hancock voting something like an abstention? Gonna have to consult ‘ol Rob on this one.

Eslick, Webb, Nash, Benton, and Rutherford only no votes.

No actual abstentions. Others, yes.

Discussion of RS2024-950. Very odd objections:
• “Perp washing hasn’t happened in a long time.”
• “This feels accusatory.”
• “Using ‘paramilitary’ is offensive because it includes the word ‘military.’”
• “Hurtful and unconstitutional”

Worth watching the comments on this one.

God, this is bleak.

Imagine taking away the agency of people undergoing a genocide and those speaking out against it because all the strings on your conspiracy board go back to Putin.

Most electoral commentary still mistakenly talks about who did vote instead of who didn’t.

But after the party closed ranks against Bernie and pushed against healthcare reforms, this doesn’t feel like the correct analysis.

False claims of antisemitism have been weaponized, yes. But antisemitism is still a significant threat.

Ignoring that makes our Jewish friends less safe. Sharing this sentiment is just as harmful and ignorant as other claims that we’ve moved past various bigotries.

Resist libs have a bad habit of pulling techniques from the right when trying to go after the right. Transphobia, misogyny, and racism abound.

You can make a joke about Musk being a obsequious toady being led around by Trump in so many other ways.

Looks like it wasn’t public knowledge until recently.

Don’t know that this adds much to our knowledge about the assassination outside of a curious wrinkle, though.

If we’re not exploiting workers in public services by taking away a portion of the value they produce, what’s the point of them providing a valuable service to the public?

Hold on. Just searching the Internet for libertarians’ views on workers’ rights….
