However, the idea that he could create a chatbot someday and avoid the real world altogether is terrifying. The goal is to scaffold and support, not to replace interaction with simulation. Children along with the neurodiverse community could be especially prone to the dangers here.

He's a very social little dude overall, but as he gets older, he struggles in situations over which he cannot control the outcome, and interacting with his peers is one of those situations. Technology is so customizable and agreeable that it has become a comfort and a means of regulation for him.

With regards to the poor teen and the chatbot, it was mentioned that he might have been on the autism spectrum. I have two autistic children, and my son, 8, is currently withdrawing from social interactions to spend time playing video games.
