WOndering if anyone can help me with this. A couple of pebbles found on a walk with the upper surface covered in these patterns of black dots about 0.25-1mm across.

The dots are slightly raised and appear to be a lichen of some sort. Can anyone identify? #lichen

A nice touch from the Royal Society of Chemistry. Shows how time flies when you are enjoying yourself! Fifty years is a long time to be doing anything.

A great thread and a nice explanation of what we can see in the image. But you don't need a 4m telescope at the Kitt Peak National Observatory to image this beauty.

This is my image taken with amateur equipment at Roboscopes in Spain. Even in amateur equipment, it is a stunning sight. 🔭
