All things Apple Mac from the Millennium era. We cover that golden time from 1997 to 2010 when some of Apple’s best and most radical designs were born. We occasionally cover earlier and later stuff too.

What does one do with a beasty like this? Throw 6GB RAM, a Quad core CPU and a Radeon PRO 4100 in and Install Linux, of course!

I also added a SSD boot drive and a 1TB HDD. The HDD promptly died. that’s what you get for pulling a random one out of storage, genius…

Someone at school lent me the VHS of the original Ghost in the Shell. I didn't go on to watch a ton more Anime but I became a lifelong fan of GitS and have DVD boxsets of both Stand Alone Complex series and more.

I was live with @trinastechnobabble.bsky.social last night working on an adapter board to power my spare Mac SE/30 board from ATX and also output the video to VGA. Unfortunately it seems like the board might be a little unhappy.

Just normal weekend Bathroom activities, right?

I washed the MacBook and that grimey T61i Thinkpad down in dish-soap and warm water and by golly the water was gross afterwards.

Unfortunately there are some parts of the MacBook I junked as they were irredeemably gross & too hard to clean properly.

“Wait! That’s not a Mac!”

Nope, but ut’s a Millennium Thinkpad!

It needs a clean and probably a new key on the one Left Alt but by golly it’s a real old Thinkpad R61i. Not the bees-knees of it’sceea but it’s served well for 18 years. I think it deserves a bit of TLC.

I have updates: the tape can slip when inserting the card and AGP seems very fussy about it touching any other pads except puns 3 and 11. Thos screen for example is what happens if the tape covers the row of pins above them…

It doesn’t get anymore Millennium Macs hackery than this. Adapting 128MB Radeon 9600 AGP gpus from a PowerMac G5 to run in a G4 with electrical tape and a craft knife xD

Some recent revival material. Thos Powerbook G3 was super clean snd worked 100% fine! I love saving these old Powerbooks, they gave a really unique style.

Bonus points if you can identify the particular model if Powerbook G3!
