I know it’s a slow news day but…is this really the best use of PBS News’ purportedly limited resources?

The TIF aspect is troubling but St Paul needs to jump start development. Hopefully this will help build some momentum.

Build more multi family and increase the downtown population to 100k, and tear down the empty office buildings. It’s the only way to actually fix the issue—there is less office demand than before, and that isn’t going to change.
December 17, 2025 at 7:13 PM
Yes, and apparently moving a basketball team from one building to another would create demand for office space! 🤯

That whole shitshow is so odd. I’m sure there are critiques, but Niall Ferguson is a real historian. Why he decided to tie his reputation to this braindead enterprise is so strange to me.

We need arrests of the ICE agents responsible for these crimes, governor. Show us you deserve a third term and are willing to take on the fascists.

I voted for Fateh, but we should pay the mayor more. Low salaries for elected roles is bad for democracy—full stop.

Could we please have the D Line run through GFS and have no detour? The D line is very popular and deserves to have people care about it too, instead of sending it on detours that will cost working class BIPOC riders millions of lost minutes over the next few decades. Thanks!

Why do you guys feel the need to have the “it’s not clear” sentence? Why not just write “The President’s statement was not based on reality.”? The way you have written this makes it seem like there is a question about whether what Trump says could be true, and it is 100% not true.

A mysterious visitor named Marty McFly visited.

Would you say Americans “prefer” Christianity? After all, more Americans are Christian than any other religion. I for one would say that Americans are often Christians due to the cultural history of their communities and families. Home preferences are just another type of culture. It can change.
November 19, 2025 at 3:55 AM
I don’t think he is correct. People “prefer” things that are subsidized, presented as cool or fancy, or that they are raised with. Stancil’s statement confuses preference for what’s hegemonic. Fix resource allocation and you fix a lot of these problems.
November 19, 2025 at 3:01 AM
Talking about preferences outside of the context of history, economics, and culture is pointless. People want detached houses and cars because that is what has been subsidized for 80 years. Political choices create preferences over time.

Senator, unless you are calling for Schumer’s removal, you are complicit in this failure.
November 10, 2025 at 3:32 AM
From where I’m sitting in Minneapolis, Senator, If you’re not calling for Schumer’s removal, you’re not doing your job. You and your colleagues failed us.

It’s gonna be close either way. I’d guess Fateh and Frey each top out between 48-52% final round. I have to imagine Fateh gets at least half of Hampton voters, but then he needs to completely dominate Davis second choice voters.
November 5, 2025 at 4:52 AM
How do you figure? Fateh needs approximately 78% of Hampton and Davis second/third ranks. Gotta think he gets at least 60-70%, and at minimum Fateh finishes at 46-47%. Obviously guessing…..
November 5, 2025 at 4:46 AM
Davis and Hampton gained 24% first place votes that will be redistributed. If 19 of that 24 goes to Fateh, he wins. Seems very hard but not impossible.

Time to start putting concrete bollards into these projects. That’s the only way these people will learn.

What would you like her to do? She is a legislator. Her power comes from getting a majority in a fundamentally broken political body. I’m all for holding power accountable, but not seeing why calling the Senator a liar is helpful (or true).

At least they can agree that the hit job on the council majority was a worthy goal! #community

You got me wrong. I was appalled by the Precarious State clips I saw. It’s political propaganda pure and simple. But I do walk, bike, and ride transit in Minneapolis, and I think we need a progressive answer to quality of life issues that isn’t just “toughen up” re drug use in public places.
October 6, 2025 at 2:56 PM
These conditions undermine public confidence in transit. We shouldn’t just say “this is how a city is.” Our public transit doesn’t have to be this way, and we need more reporting of inappropriate conduct on transit, and more rapid response. Drug use on public transit is unacceptable.

$20k in yearly property taxes?!? So this person must have around a $1-1.5 million home and is complaining that things are too expensive. Rich people complaining about how the world isn’t optimized for them enough is absurd.
