Hot take: God doesn't give rights. Humans declare, uphold, demand, and rescind rights. You don't need to invoke God to legitimize anything. Human dignity is enough.

For all of our talk, writing, and conferences centering "leadership" - for decades now - you'd think we'd be getting better at it...

In America, success means figuring out a scam for monetary gain so that the weight of a dying system/culture no longer applies to your own, isolated life.

Acts of violence are a tool for the insecure.

"Success" can often be a Trojan horse for other people's opinions.

"Small government" is just code for "no oversight or accountability:" its freedom to profit without bounds.

NOT talking about politics is ACTIVELY making our current American situation worse. Silence/looking-the-other-way enables an extractive status-quo.

We need more people to focus on creating better conditions for the people working the millions of jobs that we need, rather than people who just want to get themselves out of the rat race and leave everyone else behind.

Quick, someone mock up the Rebellion symbol with the words “I have friends everywhere” around its crescent. #andor #starwars

The impulse of the age is to take what is yours. Perhaps we should share what is ours so we don't carve up life and living into cubicles and echo chambers and phone booths of myopia.

It is no coincidence that people who like to ignore politics and don't want to get political, are the same people who have the absolute worst politics that are actively hurting those around them because of their own unchecked politics.

The greatest common factor I can determine that most (not all) successful and wealthy people have is their willingness to exploit others; this is what our current system most consistently rewards. Both effort and intelligence do not have a strong correlation with success and wealth.

Hot take: The internet needs its own driver's license - you gotta pass a test to prove you know how to use it appropriately so you don't cause yourself or your community and harm. Thoughts?

We must learn to disagree with kindness and openness - and certainly without hate.

Refuse to have enemies; this means attempting the hard work of seeing the hurt person who hurt me, befriending them and working towards their good anyway.

The democratic left is ineffectual partially because it uses the us/them framework that Republicans use. Refuse to have enemies.

The answer to so many questions about our humanity is that we are NOT fundamentally rational being, we are partially rational at best. We don't function logically most of the time; logic is narrow/limited. We function humanly, with a blend of thought, feeling, and intuition.

Evangelicalism was and is a gateway drug to apathy and amoralism. Just look at all the fruit of its tree.

Stickers and labels lie, fruit don't.

The path forward is you being the one to bring up awkward conversations: ask people about their political and religious beliefs. Ask follow up questions. Bring all that nasty shit into the light of conversation.

Anyone have a podcast that interviews/treats working class people as if they are CEOs or celebrities?

I'm tired of getting life hacks from people who stumbled into success and are justifying their success with whatever comes to mind.

I want life hacks from people in the trenches.

All American's know we are playing a highly rigged game, but too many are duped into focusing on just trying to win the game anyway instead of trying to change the rules for everyone.

One person's anti-work lifestyle, I mean passive income, should not be another person's lack of affordable housing.

I am simply begging you to love the gift of your life and the gift of the world you are in, but also, please try to make it a better place for those around you and after you.

The prevalence of side-hustles and multiple sources of income expose the reality that most people's jobs do not provide enough for people to comfortably live. This, with more and more homes becoming dual income.

Remember when a family of 4 only need 1 source of income?

Whiteness is the thing that makes people vote against their own interest. Whiteness makes anyone think that they are exempt from having to deal with or care about politics and policy unless they feel like it. It assumes a control over the consequences of both action and inaction that doesn't exist.
