Yep, and it’s upfront that there might be issues that need resolving :)

I’m thinking of placing this text on my overlay:

“For any issues, ping a moderator, or myself so it can be fixed with your input. Thank you!”

PRO-TIP: While you work on your Akyia, prefer an hotel room, or if the Akyia is structurally sound and requires minimal repairs, you can stay in it. Always look for Akyia with utilities still hooked up (Running water, gas, and electricity) this will speed everything up, and make you comfortable.
February 12, 2026 at 5:17 PM
BUT! If you already have your Akyia purchased, keys in hand, and all property paperwork done, the administrative process will be easier, as you’ll already have a permanent address in Japan, keep in mind that All administrative paperwork must be filled in Japanese, and will take a long time (3-6mts).

For the second way, an Akyia is a good starting point, but remember one thing, you’d still have to undergo some administrative hurdles before being allowed to stay in the country, like status change. Change of Status is difficult, but not undoable, as you’ll be required to submit for Perm Residence.

- And quantifiable work experience in recognized HSP fields;

There is another way to move to Japan, which is more involved, requires proof of financial independence, and a property deed, but this way is often for those who are able to get a property and be financially independent until new job.

You need to have the following already settled before moving:

- Permanent Address;
- Juminhyō paperwork already filled;
- Registration to Ward Office complete;
- Visa accepted by the country;
- All school transcripts translated;
- Degrees RECOGNIZED by the Japanese Government;

Gosh, we are in the book “1984” by Georgle Orwell, the Orwellian dystopia that wasn’t supposed to become a reality but that somehow did. Looks like time doesn’t make people free-er but more imprisoned in borders drawn on maps.

Failure to provide such reports to the Government will result in a company dissolution, without appeals, or settlement in court.

If you are a foreigner and setup a company in Japan, you will be subject to those strict requirements as to clear any doubts of potential Money Laundering.
February 10, 2026 at 3:30 PM
Foreign companies may still set up in Japan, with the same requirements as presently applied, being that the Managing Director/Associate be a Japanese Citizen, with companies currently established in Japan being required to provide financial reports every 5 Years in accordance with the law.
February 10, 2026 at 3:30 PM
But for car ownership in Japan, foreign residents will be required to hold a Japanese Driver’s License, a translation of an international license will be invalid, meaning that foreign residents will be required to undergo the theory and driving test in Japan to be acclimated to local driving rules.
February 10, 2026 at 3:30 PM
All these requirements are being set forth by the Japanese government to combat Visa Overstaying, Miss-payers, Cultural Indecency, and incompatibility with Japan’s social norms. Holders of International Driver’s Licenses will still be able to rent cars.

- Requirement to alert the government 6-months ahead of time for visa renewal, or application for a change of status;

- Harder to obtain PR for citizens of certain countries;

- Heighthened Refusal of Entry to foreign Social Media personalities if culturally incompatible with Japan;
February 10, 2026 at 3:30 PM
- Proof of Tax payments over the last 5 years (Required for status change to Permanent Resident);

- Visa Application or Renewal fee increasing from $150 to $650 (Japan may still deny a Visa Application or Renewal at its discretion);

- Penalties for misspayments to the NHI, Pension, and other funds
