Lots to love about this on a conceptual level but execution-wise just didn't hit for me?

Honestly not sure that I liked this one very much. The psychological buildup could be involving if the characters themselves weren't so threadbare, and the descent into madness came off more as meatheaded than anything.

They sure know how to make you smile :)

An engaging read from start to finish, with an ending I knew was coming yet remained strong in its execution. Wish more was done with its cast (especially Hokuto, who gets a great solo chapter), but I can see why this is such a revered title.

Felt like a speedrun of an adaptation, even with the little exposure I've had of the manga and the live-action movie. Still enjoyed it a lot--the direction does a lot of the heavy lifting to get the viewer immersed in the story's atmosphere and world.

Hell of a season that I'm still processing! Really knocked it out of the park in many regards, especially the visuals. Admittedly doesn't top season 1 for me (it's going to be hard for anything to top "Masquerade") but I'm excited for what's to come.
