Hi, Alain. Do you think it's possible that the Dolphins switched strategies after the defense was so consistently poor and Hill went down and are now embracing a full-on tank with the plan being to get a top pick, clear out some of the costlier errors of recent years and return to glory?

Tua was never McDaniel's choice. He worked wonders with him, but Tua is now in a state of chronic collapse. I think McDaniel has lost patience and wants a better QB. Where Grier is in all this, heaven knows, but he's constructed an unholy mess of a team.

"Hello, darkness, my old friend/I've come to talk with you again."

What else is there to say?

Grier built this group of misfit toys. Grier chose the QB. If anyone's time has come, I nominate Grier to lead the march along the plank.

"head coach Chris Grier" was an interesting phrase.

I'm sensing a touch of negativity here...

Hi, Alain. Now that the Dolphins have resumed their march to glory by crushing the mighty Jets *cough cough* are we any closer to having a functioning D-line? To me it looked as if they were preparing to collapse before Jack Jones saved the day. How badly we miss Calais Campbell!

Grier has managed to construct the ultimate Jenga roster here and watching it totter and fall is going to have a grim fascination all of its own.

"After watching the Dolphins losing their first three games, it's unclear there are major issues with this team... "

Surely it's clear, rather than unclear.

Hey, Alain. Hope all's well with you. The defense has been pretty disappointing so far. Sometimes it seems as if we have bits of 3 different teams trying to work together and ending up in a confused heap. Do you see any solution to this that doesn't involve time machines and different picks?

Is it time to Tank For No Tua? (Asking for a friend.)
September 23, 2025 at 5:50 AM
Hi, Alain. Could we be seeing the Dolphins turning things around in a more sustainable way? The team looked tougher and more competent in this game than many predicted. A loss, but not a blowout. Are the pieces coming together?

When Dave Hyde appears, we know things are serious.

I shall never understand the thought process behind the recent construction of this team. Half an O-line, bits of a D-line, a QB with some skill and some obvious flaws, edge rushers who frequently can't... Is this some amazing plan to guarantee his successor the first pick in the next 3 drafts?
September 14, 2025 at 9:06 PM
A better performance, but the result was the same. This is a badly built team and it's hard to see it improving. I blame Grier for most of the failure, because he left the team badly undermanned in critical areas, but it's clear that the coaches must also answer for their errors.
September 14, 2025 at 8:29 PM
Hey, Alain, hope you feel better and it was nothing too serious. At the risk of triggering a relapse, I have to ask, have you ever seen a worse/more woefully underpowered group of cornerbacks suit up for the Fins?
September 12, 2025 at 4:49 AM
Feel better soon. Hope it's nothing serious. We shall look forward to your return.
September 11, 2025 at 10:36 PM
Sure, one game is not the season, but so many things looked awful that it's horribly easy to see a slide into disaster. I hate thinking this way, but right now we look as if 4th place in the division is the likeliest outcome.

One of the mysteries underlying all of this tragicomedy is the long survival of Grier. Does he have kompromat on Ross? Is he a purveyor of unspeakable pleasures? He's the Macavity of GMs - at whatever time the deed took place, Macavity wasn't there. How does he do it and keep doing it?
September 10, 2025 at 9:27 AM
Yes, much of the McDaniel criticism was justified, but I'd look at Weaver's defensive void before blaming the head coach for everything. As for Grier - he built this team and the architecture disintegrated before our eyes. For me, Grier created this mess and should be the first to take the blame.
