There are reminders everywhere on the campus of Arrowmont not to leave door out, or in cars, because… bears. I took this picture as I walked out of the classroom. I was ready to walk right back in to the classroom, but the bear polity walked away. ( there were people closer to it than I was)

@catbirder27.bsky.social If you enbiggen the picture of the hills above Gatlinburgh, TN you get a good view of the mist/clouds that look like smoke right above the trees. This is kind of a puny example, but it does give you an idea of why they are the Smokey mountains.
