"Have I told you how handsome you look in that?" G'raha asks. They're fresh from the adjoining bath, and he's watching Solene neatly tie the gilt laces of one long, leather boot. "Do I?" she responds, with such affected coyness that it's plain she'd quite like to hear him repeat himself. She straightens, sweeping the half-dark cascade of her hair over her shoulders, tucking loose strands behind her long ears as she stares down at him with an expectant, impish little smile. He blushes to the damp roots of his hair at her preening, eyeing her up and down—the forest-green blouse with billowing sleeves and supple leathers, trousers cleanly tucked into sleek, ornamented thighboots—and there's such naked admiration on his face that her heart leaps in her chest. "You do," he says, approaching, and there's something much less innocent about the look in his eye as he kneels at her feet to reach for the loose laces of her other boot. And far, far less so, the deliberateness of his hands as he lifts her foot, perching it delicately on his thigh before he sets to work doing the laces up. "What a gentleman," she murmurs, voice warm with affection. "For the moment," he says easily, a not-quite-gentlemanly smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. He finishes lacing her boot, setting her foot back upon solid ground with care, his thumb gently stroking her ankle.

Sunk it deep beneath a cold ocean in her heart where she sent every other little fragment of herself so that the peerless Warrior, the honed weapon, would always come first. When she struck, it was with lethality. "And thank the Mothercrystal for that. To spare her from the sight of you now was a kindness; how I envy her."

as the story moved along and Everything Happened to her, i liked finding opportunities to change things about her appearance here and there to reflect that. it honestly does kind of tug on my heartstrings to see how she's gone from a farm girl turned adventurer to a hero of worlds.
