For today’s #standingonsomething prompt, I offer a smorgasbord.

An #EasternBluebird on a fence
A Boattailed #Grackle on a rope
A #sparrow (I forget which species) on a dead tree
A #WoodStork on top of a tree

For #Stunday I am sharing a personally stunning observation from one of my recent #LittleBlueHeron photos.

While this is another nice perspective on this gorgeous #bird, I was struck by a detail — this bird has small patches of white showing through its chest feathers.

Not the greatest #takeoff entry, but I wanted to join the fray.

This #TricoloredHeron decided to skidaddle (spelling?) after it noticed I was closer than it preferred. I captured it just after it took off from the edge of a tidal lagoon at the beach.

Obviously, light was very poor

I’ve been sitting on this for about a week. This is my favorite piece from the photo session with this marvelous #LittleBlueHeron model

I especially love the tension between the bird’s perfect pose and absolute focus (on lunch), and graceful flow of its different feathers

For today’s #scape day, I offer a #marshscape with a smidgen of #bird content

The scene is dominated by the leaden pillow sky, and features many layers and textures as we look across the high-tide litter, the #mudflat, and the vast #marsh. A heron/egret landing gives a jolt of white

Here’s a cropped shot from the archive to emphasize today’s #lunchtime prompt.

I’m glad the photo seems to stand up to the zoom, but can’t help but be a bit empathetic for the poor sandpiper (Sanderling?). Well, it was probably already long gone, and Circle of Life…

Bon apetit!

Returning to #Bird Land, here’s a quick #closeup offering of a #LittleBlueHeron for your enjoyment.

I love the details around the eye/beak areas on #herons and #egrets.

Here’s a #longbeak offering for today’s #BirdOfTheDay prompt.

This gorgeous #Whimbrel and its friends surprised me as they buzzed by at the beach. My resulting photos were less than stellar, but I was still psyched to add a Lifer.

Here’s another late offering — this one for #Stunday

A palm tree (in #silhouette) frames a luscious sunrise (complete with a brightly shining planet) over the Atlantic Ocean.

Dear #BirdOfTheDay Crew — here’s my late offering of a #underrated #bird.

While relatively diminutive vs. the Great Blue, the Great #Egret, and the Tricolored #Heron, and not as well-known as the Snowy Egret, the #LittleBlueHeron is not without its charms.

Here’s one from my #bird walk yesterday.

This #GreatBlueHeron flushed when I walked near it. It tried #hiding behind some nearby bushy growth, but I found a small hole in the greenery for this capture. Showed him 😊

A slice of #marsh #scape for #scapeday from a bird walk yesterday.

The marsh is gradually seeing the bright greens recede into tans and rusts, but still has a ways to go.

I especially love the downy clouds trailing off to forever.

The layers of light are nice, too!

Hi Susan! Happy #Scape Day and happy #Halloween!

Here are some creepy old #gravestones from #Deerfield Massachusetts to support the mood of the day

The last two almost have a Mayan or Olmec vibe

Enjoy!

For today’s #hiding prompt, I offer a Black-crowned Night #Heron

My favorite #birding pond is home to lots of BCNHs. During nesting, I can almost always spot more than a dozen in the trees around the pond, usually too distant for my kit

This one actually got close enough for a pic 😊

Here’s one for #palacesandgardens.

It probably doesn’t qualify for either category, but the Plaza de España in Sevilla has the right vibe, especially on a sunny day in March.

What a beautiful place and with so much positive energy!

Here’s a late #urbangaze offering for today

I love this scene after a rainstorm in #Sevilla, una ciudad tan hermosa y fantástica

I really like the large puddle reflection, but couldn’t match it with sky above (seems I didn’t get the light right)

Still, a nice photo from one of my favorite cities

“Guys! Guys! Eyes over here please!

I swear, it’s like herding cats!”

A Black-bellied Plover (non-mating plumage) and his Little Blue Heron neighbor are not following the photographer’s instructions. Hmmmm. Very frustrating.

Here’s a little something for the #funny prompt.

This #Willet youngster has a really bad case of bed head — over it’s entire body.

Teenagers! It’s nice to know that it’s not just humans 😉

Here’s an offering for #windowsonwednesday.

These austere windows are from the ruins of the former #CarmoConvent in #Lisboa #Portugal

I like the simplicity — in this case, I think it adds gravitas and sincerity.

Hello #BirdOfTheDay crew! Here’s my offering for today’s #gull prompt.

Here’s another from the archives…

This #GreatEgret deserves another look. I think I posted this as part of my therapy (joining #BlueSky) following last year’s election disaster here in the US.

This majestic bird, like so many others today, also deserves to be the #BirdOfTheDay for #Egrets
