36 years ago today, I sat in Seerley Hall at the University of Northern Iowa, waiting for my math class to begin. When the professor walked in, she wrote "November 9, 1989" on the board. She then said, "Don't ever forget this day, and how it will change the world." #BerlinWall

Fifty years ago today, Arthur Ashe defeated Jimmy Connors to become the first African-American man to win Wimbledon.

This is the autographed photo of Ashe that is on the wall of my home office. I recommend his book "Days of Grace." He was a remarkable individual.

April 22 is Earth Day. At my place, that's every day of the year. Here's the lithograph in the hallway next to my home office, hand signed by Maurice White, Verdine White and Philip Bailey from Earth, Wind & Fire.

Waking up to the news that my all-time favorite actor has died. Gene Hackman was 95. His wife, Betsy Arakawa, was found by his side in their New Mexico home.

While he won Academy Awards for "The French Connection" and "Unforgiven," it was his role in "Hoosiers" that was my favorite.
