Ottawa, Ontario.
Mean & nasty wilderness camper, fisherman, canoeist, & hiker.
I've got thirsty ears.
Non-partisan. Dump FPTP and give us PR.
I do NOT stand with LPC or CPC.
Here since 24 Jul 2023
We lost George Logan on 9 Apr 1917 at the beginning of the battle for Vimy Ridge. Richard Gregory died in a later battle & was buried in a shell crater.
My Uncle Gord Logan was tail-gunner on Halifax & Lancaster bombers. He somehow survived WWII but never talked about it.
Lest we forget.

I've already tucked away my boat in a shed in Rockland, and the canoe is safely in the garage.
I tore the meniscus in my knee 2 years ago while helping my son. Never had an operation. I'll put on a knee brace & try public skating to see how stable it is.

-1°C here in Orléans with a dusting of snow on the lawn. It's paused for the moment. Heavier stuff ETA for around 16:00 and later.

A blast from the past...

The 'peace president' lusts for more oil.
Just the other day, they were saying Canada interfered in their politics by running a true ad about tariffs. Such hypocrites.

The USR admin. is bonkers. Drumpf et al are upset that we tell the truth. They apply tariffs for insane reasons. They threaten to annex us, to destroy our economy, & siphon away our industry, & think we should shutup.
Such assholes. I would've sent Hoekstra home.

Frank Bender is a 600m long street with 5 speed bumps. I thank the gods I never need to use it except by bike, but it's an example of civic stupidity. They must have dropped the resale value of homes there.

This isn't what most of us want.

It's tough to find a straighter road than Tenth Line.
September 26, 2025 at 6:54 PM
The boulevards I mentioned have no foot traffic. Tenth Line has a high school & it also has a traffic light. The road is straight with excellent vis.
These are young adults & I think they're capable of dealing with roads. Many go for lunch in Fallingbrook plaza on the same side of the road.

I tore the meniscus in my right knee 2 years ago, but no operation. It was complaining a bit but I ignored it.
Maybe it's time for a larger tent.

I made the mistake of tossing a couple of nuts from my trail mix to this chipmunk. He then thought he owned me, constantly harassing me for more, crawling up my pant legs & on the back of my coat. I named him "Asshole."
His burrow was in the campsite so there was no escape. I swore a lot at him.

A couple of mergansers swimming by.
I had no luck fishing for bass ― they go deeper at this of the year. I could see fish between 50-80 feet down. Some people with downriggers were going for lake trout.

This is your typical Algonquin Park thunderbox, and 1 of the reasons why my wife won't go camping with me. Other reasons include no running water or electricity. Her idea of camping is in a Fairmont hotel.

The sunset on Monday night was beautiful; the others, not so much. Thursday was cloudy & cool, with whitecaps on the lake.
Campfires at night & listening to the loons was simply great.

They also left firewood & birch bark. I just hope they weren't stripping the bark from live trees. Scrounging for firewood is tough but always go for dead trees, still standing if possible. Dry pine cones & bark from dead pines also work.
The firepit had been thoroughly doused with water.

Tranquility base on Lake Opeongo. For the 1st time ever, I'm getting 2 bars in Algonquin. My new phone maybe?

So sorry, it's so tough.

My wife asked for a pad of paper for the kitchen. She found a note from my Mum (Ev) from 1 of the times she was at home with us. Her handwriting used to be beautiful, but she obviously had trouble with the words, gave up, folded the page, & put it back in the pad.

Biking along the Ottawa River up to the Ottawa River House. We need more days like this.

They cut off the nose of the 2026 RAV4 so now it looks like an ugly RAM pickup, good for mowing down pedestrians. Brilliant.
