Watching the OTs last night reminded me to check on one of my favorite playoff stats:

Former Canes defenseman Niclas Wallin still ranks tied for first in the NHL history in career playoff OT goals by a defenseman with three (Ken Morrow and Brent Seabrook also had three).

Full-circle moment! During the 2022 Playoffs in Boston, Andrei Svechnikov translated for a Pyotr Kochetkov media interview. Today, PK translates for Alexander Nikishin.

Ward's 41 games against Ovechkin are the third-most of any NHL goaltender. Ward allowed the fifth-most career goals to Ovechkin, and is surrounded by some pretty decent company on that list. (3/5)

Ovechkin scored his first goal against the Hurricanes - the fourth of his NHL career - on Oct. 12, 2005, beating fellow rookie Cam Ward. Ward is the only Carolina netminder to play more than five games against Ovechkin, allowing 19 goals in 41 games. (2/5)

Four years ago, Seth Jarvis was one of the final cuts from Canada’s 2021 World Juniors roster. Today, he was named to Canada’s roster for the 4 Nations - one of the top 23 Canadian players in the NHL.

None of the 25 players who made that WJC team are on the 4 Nations roster.
