I vaguely remember MKBHD saying that everyone ends up in video because the YouTube split is more generous than elsewhere. So maybe a bit of that too? It's still a tax on people who don't like their faces though.

I was thinking of Germany tooling up before WWII and the New Deal in the US but I don't have a sense of the scale this time around. It seems like it could be pretty dramatic, spinning European countries into a virtuous growth cycle. Or not. 😉

It also happens more generally. Someone, somewhere down the food chain sees a thing they like and want to use. Except there's a requirement for a procurement process. So now they construct a process to ensure their desired product wins.

I remember a story from years ago where a group of 4 were stopped by police in Florida after being reported for suspicious activity. That activity was walking. And the story ended with "they were just Canadian".
