Didn't notice them when I was in there a few weeks ago. They're on the "to do" list now.

I've never been let down by the City Arms. Great real ales, well-kept.

I'll be looking for that next month!

Like them but always preferred the 444 Tartaruga class locos myself - and I've travelled thousands of km behind both classes. I also think the 444s were more attractive before they were rebuilt.

It was (the only real ale) on the bar at the Sutherland Arms in Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday evening.

Very good pub. They did a deal with the late Dave Wickett, owner of the original Fat Cat in Sheffield. In addition to the nod to use the name, they agreed to sell KI Pale Rider on a regular basis, hence the visits to the brewery. I knew Dave well before he passed and it was he who told me this.

Confirmed by a Belgian friend of mine who lives in Brugge. He got it from the horse's mouth last week, he tells me.

Had a pint of that in the Ship & Mitre in Liverpool on Wednesday. Great beer.

Scotia Bar for beer and weekend live music, Laurieston for a 1960s feel, Pot Still for real ale served from air fonts, Bon Accord for a good range of beers and, a bit further out, the Three Judges at Partick is well worth a look-in.

I know but there are many Oktoberfest beers and I prefer them from well establshed still independent Bavarian breweries.

If you think any of those are the best 3 Oktoberfest beers, I'll start worrying about you.
