Evidenced based (social) science.

A Canadian friend of mine lost his legs. I cannot imagine how he must feel after hearing this.

Trying to remember, did Julia Gillard keep Australian troops in Afghanistan?

In regards to the specific point of the fears that men may have of dying in wars.
May 29, 2025 at 2:27 PM
That's not really my point. My point was that there are reasons for the insecurities that people have about things. And, as you rightly point out, they might be gender based. I am not at all trying to diminish those fears that women might have.
I would also remind you of Margaret Thatcher.

Maybe men are worried about the rise of AI and future jobs. Or security. Men typically die more than women in wars, for example.

If gender isn't important, then drop the gender element from the questions.

Sorry for the rant, but inclusiveness is a multi-way street. And our future is important.

If you want to focus on gender, you could ask, "I wonder why more men than women tend to feel that we should rebuild our steel industry rather than investing in universities". That might drive a more inclusive conversation.

My wife feels the same way as the men in your life, but about manufacturing. I find it a bit unfortunate that you started your post by being divisive. It doesn't really facilitate a conversation about the substance. I would be nice to be inclusive.

Great chat. Could you try going back to the 1990 Peacock Government. Two reasons: personal, I moved away from Australia then; second I feel like it would be interesting to capture the dynamics leading into as well as following the Howard government.

I thought you were writing in German for a moment.

Induction stove tops have been around for 40 plus years. And Edison had an EV. Maybe we never really reach the equilibrium where everything is a toaster.

UK Reform would disagree. And Nigel Farage is like Dutton or Pollievre on steroids.

Reform won big in the UK though!

One man is destroying the wealth of billions of people, will likely put millions into unemployment, and is causing a breakdown in foreign relations.
He must be stopped. How does that happen?
